In truth, I DID conceive this as being more directly #fireemblem related, I had thoughts of including the teacup from the Fodlan Tea Set along with a black feather quill so that I could make it a still-life composed of Edelgard’s lost items…But no arrangement I came up with was satisfying to me.

I’m unsure if I should tag this with #fe3h or not (though I guess I just did). The red drapery is the red cape from the costume in the #Edelgard painting, as is the candle and the gloves - though I changed the color of the gloves from white to a more buff yellow to suit the setup better.

July was exhausting. Back-to-back conventions with @lovelyillustration.bsky.social , capping it off with GalaxyCon in Raleigh and Superstar Anime in Virginia Beach. They’re fun and all, but very tiring. Finally managed to finish this one when it was all said and done.

I'm gonna say these two: One is a crappy iPhone edit of a well-known image by automatic giraffe, the other is the CG from 3hopes where Claude and Edelgard form a pact made into the "FRIENDSHIP ENDED" meme.

It is an oil painting of Edelgard in her pre-timeskip appearance. The application and rendering with paint is heavily influenced by Jan Van Eyck and Rembrandt. However, composition of the painting is reminiscent of the Tudor portraits by Hans Holbein the younger. Edelgard’s complexion has more coloring than she does in 3 Houses proper, her features are rendered in a more “realistic” style. She looks at the viewer with a combination of intensity and determination, to a degree that is almost unnerving. The black parts of Edelgard’s uniform have a subtle brocade pattern. Her collar and aiguillette are created with impasto passages to help create a faux-dimensionality. Edelgard’s right hand is resting on top of her left, both are sitting on a table top. Edelgard’s left hand is gripping the hilt of the dagger she received from Dimitri when they were children. The blade of the dagger is lying across a tablecloth, the folds of the tablecloth suggest the shapes that comprise the crest of flames. To edelgard’s right is a candle stick, smoke can be seen rising from the wick. The candle is sitting atop a finely polished wooden table, in the table’s reflective surface, the candle appears to be burning brightly. The wall behind Edelgard is olive green, the following latin phrase is written on it: “EDELGARD DE HRÆSVELG. .ETATIS. SUÆ . XVII” on the first line, and 
“ANNO . IMPERATORIA . M.C. LXXIX”. The translation is: “EDELGARD VON HRESVELG AT 17 YEARS” on the first line, and “IN THE IMPERIAL YEAR, 1179” on the second. The phrases appear on either side of Edelgard’s head. Small stamps of the Crest of Seiros are also placed on either side of Edelgard’s head.
