Choosing to fill in the background with two strands, single wrap, French knots was certainly... a choice.

God I miss ink.

Landscape painting of the end of a paved road, blocked by old wooden posts and by a black and yellow warning sign. A raven perches on top of the sign, and dirt footpath winds from between the posts into the scrub and meadows beyond.

Finished and first coats of varnish done. Now I need to find a frame to suit both the painting and the tastes of the new owner. Fortunately I’ve seen pictures of their house, so that helps a lot.
