Keep Hope Alive: a Gaza Giving Circle We are a team of volunteers in the US and UK, led by two sisters passionate about helping our friends on the ground keep their families and neighbors alive with food, water, & shelter. We saw that…

One link, six families, THREE days to make this goal, and we aren't far now. The families need anything for shelter and food. This need should be self-explanatory.

Anything helps especially clicking "weekly" + paired with action. 2925/4100 by Sunday: chuffed.org/project/hope...

Oh, it's the last day of Disability Pride Month, which takes place in July because that's when the ADA was signed. I don't feel pride about my disability since it gives me chronic pain. But I am proud of contributing an essay to this anthology edited by @sfdirewolf.bsky.social

The Roxie is also offering two virtual screenings of the movie so if you are in a city that does not have a scheduled screening (like me) or unable to attend an in-person screening there are options to watch the film.

Thank you @sfdirewolf.bsky.social

Activist Alice Wong reflects on 'The Year of the Tiger' and her hopes for 2023 In the Year of the Tiger: An Activist's Life, Alice Wong shares pieces of her story and experience as a disabled Asian American through a collection of essays, interviews, photos and illustrations.

"Like many people excluded and devalued in society, disabled people have been speaking truths that most people do not want to hear. ... Life is not binary ... We can and should embrace vulnerability and interdependence and not see them as weaknesses." @sfdirewolf.bsky.social #DisabilityPrideMonth

Finished reading Peter Schmeichel's autobiography, now back to @sfdirewolf.bsky.social 's book, paused because I was busy caregiving at the time.

of course $25k is outrageous. of course raw ingredients are cheaper than restaurant food.

but I still hate this discourse bc of how much it mimics the things that sick people hear while struggling to feed ourselves. malnourishment is a huge issue for people with energy-limiting illness w/o support.

I have been relearning to cook this last year after spending quite a bit of time either too incapacitated to cook or not-recovered-enough to relearn ADL. it has been a joy, finally, to get this bit of independence back.

I live in a semi-rural area w no delivery but I’ve had a lot of help w food.

I dunno man I could never encounter another round of cooking/delivery food discourse again and it would be too soon.

$25k is an obscene amount of money to spend on takeout in a year, sure, but home economics classes won’t eliminate the need or desire for outsourced food prep.

bad discourse, bad.

You could take Gaza out of the picture entirely-what's happening in the West Bank alone is grounds enough to sever all ties with Israel and deploy an international force to liberate the Palestinians.

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Tahani. Tahani and her husband Refaat had a mini market and a nice house in Rafah before this, all of it has been destroyed. They are now trying to keep their children Rahaf, 16, Jana, 14, Ahmed, 13 and Mohammad, 10 alive, they are struggling.

I am not officially on hunger strike, but I’m not exactly eating (not out of guilt, but out of rage). No one I know is, really. This world is surely hell. But we will change it.

Started an Andor rewatch, and I’m struck through the early episodes by how few alien-alien characters there are. It’s almost all humans (even from different planets), plus the odd droid here and there. Helps keep the fascism parable relatively grounded.
