It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I’m gutted by this decision. So many excellent editors and writers impacted. My column, Disability Visibility is no more as well. Many thanks to Allegra for giving me this amazing opportunity www.teenvogue.com/contributor/...

Trump Has Forced Out An Alarming Number Of Federal Workers — And Now We Have An Exact Number “The performance of our government across the board is being diminished,” warned Max Stier, CEO of Partnership for Public Service.

Good morning. ☕️

ICYMI: Trump has now forced more than 211,000 people out of their federal jobs. A near-decimation of the federal workforce in nine months.

Biggest losses at Defense Dept and Treasury.

Table 11: Receipt and Postmark Deadlines for Absentee/Mail Ballots Summary of the state deadlines for when election officials must receive absentee/mailed ballots and postmark deadlines.

Mail-in voters who haven't returned ballots yet: Check your state's deadline to make sure your vote gets counted.

If your ballot must be received by Election Day, consider stopping by a ballot drop box or early voting site. It may be too late for the U.S. Postal Service to deliver it by Nov. 4...

Choosing to let kids go hungry The USDA asserts that Democrats are blocking funding to secure “health care for illegal immigrants” and funding for “gender mutilation procedures.” All of these claims are false.

The USDA’s current position is that these funds “are not legally available to cover regular benefits.”

This, however, directly contradicts guidance that the USDA issued on September 30 which explicitly states that contingency funds can be used for regular benefits.

House candidate Kat Abughazaleh calls her indictment for protesting a "political prosecution” “This case is a major push by the Trump administration to criminalize protest and punish anyone who speaks out against them.”

The Justice Department indicted six protesters—including Democratic congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh—for allegedly impeding an ICE officer outside a federal immigration facility.

The move is a stunning continuation of Trump’s weaponization of judicial and police power to crush dissent.

Grave fears for civilians after Sudanese paramilitary claims capture of El Fasher RSF says it has seized control of army’s main base in Darfur, home to famine-stricken displacement camp Fears are growing for hundreds of thousands of civilians trapped in El Fasher after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces said it had captured the city, which it has been besieging for more than a year in Sudan’s civil war. The group said on Sunday that it had seized control of the army’s main base in the city in Darfur, where famine was declared in a displacement camp last year. It then released a statement saying it had “extended control over the city of El Fasher from the grip of mercenaries and militias”. Continue reading...

Since then they have been displaced in a tent with her mother and niece, and are struggling to survive.

A hard truth is that the search for artificial general intelligence as a commercial tool is fundamentally a reproduction of slavery. Not because computers are people or anything so silly, but because of the impetus: To acquire the products of humanity without the need for a human to consent.
