And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die,
ate the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive him
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

I beg of you, please let me get this extremely wordy paper for @navsa2025.bsky.social under 20 minutes. I swear it’s necessary for me to say “second phase Pre-Raphaelitism” this many times…

Oooooo this research project sounds so great!!! I’ve done some work on modern fandom associated with Pre-Raphaelite art and the production of Pre-Raph inspired makeup products (including MAC’s “Pre-Raphaelite” lipstick 💄) and instructional videos so can’t wait to read the output from this project!

Detail of Frederick Cayley Robinson’s painting “The Close of the Day” (1896) showing a slumped over young woman in a purple dress who stares through an empty wine glass looking lethargic. Girl, same.

after a good research/writing day yesterday, we return to the “whyyyy is this so hard” and “no no no this is too long” stage of essay writing — jolly good

This was SUCH a great episode.
The Coleridge quote about “seeing Kean is like READING Shakespeare by flashes of lightning” is so interesting. His son Charles would often be described as evoking Pre-Raphaelite art on the stage. So fun to think about theatre as embodiment of other art/literary forms

Photo of an American being very confused seeing their first Punch and Judy puppet performance

One of the best parts of #BAVS2025 (other than the stellar, thought provoking papers) was witnessing @hosmeriana.bsky.social ‘s reaction to her first Punch & Judy show complete with sausage-stealing crocodiles 🐊
