Here's something agents don't always say out loud: the writers who are nervous are almost always the ones who care the most, polish the most, and write the best.
So, if you're anxious? Probably a good sign.

The constant problem with jacket copy, if there is one, is that it canβt be for everyone

#RevPit pro tip:
If you missed an editor's #MeetTheEditor chat, you can still @ them with questions about their MSWLs, RevPit, or whatever else
Hm... I'd be open to that! I love YA. π«ΆπΌ
05.03.2026 00:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My #revpit session from earlier today! I'm still around, though, so if you have other questions, send them over. ππΌππΌ

04.03.2026 21:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think if it's accessible, it'd probably work for me. I enjoy fantasy that occurs in our world, or something close enough to it, over something massive (LOTR-ish). Totally new world, new language, new rules, epic journeys. I get lost in those types of books, and not in a good way.
04.03.2026 21:58 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great question! Cozy mystery to me means no gore/violence/SA on the page. Usually an amateur detective. Small town. Maybe a pet/animal companion. Sometimes there may be some fantasy/magic/paranormal assumptions mixed in.
04.03.2026 21:55 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Ooh, good question! It's always different. Sometimes it's a swoony MC. Sometimes it's the urge to figure out what's going to happen before it does. Sometimes it's a well-built world that I don't want to leave because parts of ours currently pales in comparison.
04.03.2026 19:42 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Yes, that's fine! I think it's great that you've got memories and dreams between the dog-napping and the (hopeful) rescue.
04.03.2026 17:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You made it to Wednesday! Here's a freebie for you all!! β€οΈ
04.03.2026 17:30 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0If you're into MG, I just finished Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate with my 8-year-old. It was emotional for me and we had some great conversations during it. My latest 5-star read is Felix Ever After by Kacen Callendar, and I've enjoyed Jenn McKinlay's Museum of Literature series.

If there is a very clear power imbalance between the client and provider, then I wouldn't be the best fit. If they're on equal footing, then I'd enjoy that more.
Strangers to lovers is fine!
A time period/setting I'm unfamiliar with would take me significantly longer to dev edit because I'd have to keep stopping to check and confirm details. For #revpit, I'm looking for areas I'm already comfortable in because I know I can complete that dev edit during the time allotted.
04.03.2026 16:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This might be a thought for the future, but assessments from two different editors focused on two different parts of the story may be helpful. One with experience working with your time period, and one to read more generally.
04.03.2026 16:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The second one, World Tour, is definitely my fav. It's currently the Spotify playlist we have playing in the car lol. Though I do love that NSYNC reunited for the third one, Band Together.
04.03.2026 16:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love found family, forced proximity, friends to lovers, grumpy/sunshine. I tend to dislike billionaire romances, workplace stories where the couple is boss/employee, and love triangles.
04.03.2026 16:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hiii! That sounds neat!! My biggest concern with multiple realities (and time travel) MSS is simply the way the transitions happen and if those transition from reality/time period (and back) is easy to follow.
04.03.2026 16:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I don't watch much of anything for adults these days (but I can tell you my favorite Trolls movie!), but my recent sweet reads include Rebel with a Donut, Royal Valentine, The Attraction Distraction, and Home Field Advantage. Follow me on @thestorygraph.com at nicolefrailreads if you're there!
04.03.2026 16:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One of my top reads of '24 was a Beauty and the Beast retelling, so I'd be into this. If Earth is still recognizable, and the focus is more on the story and less on the tech/science the group is using, I'd be into it!
04.03.2026 16:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Time travel interests me, and I could work with it, but I'm not sure if I'd be the *best* fit for it. I don't know much about that time period, so I'd be assuming all of your research and details are correct. An editor who marked historical fiction might be better for you.
