#MorningPrayer
Lord Jesus,
you open your heart to all people,
calling us your brothers and sisters,
people made in the image of God.
Prevent us from closing our hearts to others,
from choosing to see our differences
rather than all that we have in common.
May we love as you love.

#MorningPrayer
Lord God,
Three in One and One in Three,
you have entrusted us
with dominion over your world.
Turn our hearts to your will,
that dominion
may not become domination.
Give us hearts
for justice and mercy,
for the wellbeing of the world
and all its people,
for peace.

#MorningPrayer
In your love for us, Lord God,
you are not content to speak to us
by prophets alone,
rather you became
one with us and one of us,
showing us your way.
Hear our prayer for a broken world,
that the way of your kingdom may prevail,
that wars may end and peace be ours.

Fill us, Lord Jesus, with faith
that knows your authority
over us and all the world,
an authority exercised
by your Spirit of love and grace,
that enters into our lives
though we, of ourselves,
are not worthy;
that forgives and restores us
to relationship with you.

Give us a passion, Lord Jesus,
to live in the way you set before us;
not to take pride in our own boastfulness,
but to look for the good of others,
bearing not only our own concerns,
but also the cares of others.
Grow in us the gentle and forgiving
spirit of love.

Nurture us, Lord Jesus,
that we may bear
the fruit of the Spirit,
a harvest for your kingdom.
Keep our hearts
from merely temporal desires;
away from conceit,
competition and envy.
Help us rather to focus
on what is eternal,
to our living out
of your love for all.

Lord Jesus,
turn our focus away
from the desire
to please other people,
to live out their expectations,
to enslave ourselves
to the agenda of
the powerful or prejudiced;
keep us focused rather
on your call, your guidance,
that we may walk in the way
you set for us.

Remind us Lord Jesus,
that we are children of your promise,
heirs of the new covenant
made in your love,
citizens of your kingdom,
disciples on your way.
Drive from us all that
holds us back from following you,
that we may be faithful
to your call upon us this day.

Keep from us, Lord Jesus,
the temptation to focus
on what is physical and material
above what is the essence of our being,
our life together in you.
Fix our attention on
the wisdom of your grace,
the leading of your Spirit,
the call of your love,
on your joy in us.

Release our souls
into your grace, Lord Jesus,
that we may be moulded and formed
by the culture of your kingdom,
and be one as you prayed.
Instil in us a love for one another
that reflects your love for us;
remind us that in you
there is difference
but no division.

Turn our hearts
to you, Lord Jesus,
that we may place our faith
not in our own
achievements, awards,
image or income,
but in your love for us,
your grace towards us,
your meeting us where we are
and leading us to where
we may find true life
in your kingdom,
in you.

In you, Lord Jesus,
we are heirs of the covenant of grace,
spiritual children
of the promise made to Abraham
that in his offspring
all the nations of the earth
would be blessed.
Keep us open
to your will for our lives,
and bless all
through your love
working in us.

Take from our hearts, Lord Jesus,
the belief that we can save ourselves
by the actions we take,
the things we achieve for ourselves
in the eyes of others.
Renew our understanding
of your saving grace,
that we may open our lives
to your love, your call,
your wisdom.

Release us, Lord Jesus,
from those things in our lives
that pull us away
from our vocation to follow you
on the path of discipleship,
in the way of your love.
Release us from our temptations
to look good in the eyes of others,
even if to do so we grieve your heart.

As we journey through Lent,
Lord Jesus, fix our gaze upon you,
and the way that you call us to follow;
take from us desire
for that which cannot satisfy;
rather help us to use what we have,
our time, talents and treasures,
our power and presence,
to show your love.

Grow in us, Lord Jesus,
a faith that is open to embrace
the working of your love
in your world and your church,
especially when you are
doing new things.
Like the apostles
embracing your call to St Paul,
keep us aligned to your will,
not hidebound by our own views.

You call us, Lord Jesus,
to the gospel of your
grace, love, mercy, and peace;
take from our hearts the temptation
to follow the false gospel
of our own self-centredness,
the way by which
we seek human approval
rather than your love,
and our glory
rather than yours.

Uncloud our minds, Lord Jesus,
that we may see you for who you are,
and embrace your call
to both receive and share your love,
to share it with all people
and with all the world;
as your disciples,
may we shine the light of your grace
for all to see, in all we are.

Give us hearts
of forgiveness and peace,
Lord Jesus,
that we may open ourselves
to relationship and reconciliation,
rather than distrust and division,
seeing each other
as the neighbours we are,
one family in your love,
bearers of your image,
your grace,
your love.

Keep us aligned to your way,
and focused on your call, Lord Jesus,
on our journey through life.
May we hitch ourselves to your yoke,
walking with you in all things
as we make our pilgrimage together,
bound by your grace,
heirs and signs
of the hope
of your kingdom.

Fill us, Lord Jesus,
with a desire and a determination
faithfully to follow your way,
with hearts, minds and souls
open to the voice of your Spirit
and the wisdom of your leadership.
May your love be
the hallmark of our relationships,
revealing your grace to all.

Help us, Lord Jesus, to be your church
in accordance with your will,
in harmony with your wisdom,
as followers of your guidance,
and as one people in your love.
Inspire us to live your truth
of love for all people,
of justice, of mercy,
of reconciliation and peace.

You call us to be one, Lord Jesus,
as you and the Father are one,
in unity with the Holy Spirit.
You bind us together as your church,
your body, your people.
May we commit always
to our fellowship of unity in your love,
holding to each other
despite any difference.

Fill us with your love, Lord Jesus;
fill us so full that it overflows from us
to the people, the neighbourhoods,
the communities, the societies,
and the world in which we are set,
which you call us to serve,
and to which you send us
with your grace, hope and peace.

Fill us with your peace, Lord Jesus;
take from us not our care
for what concerns you,
but the anxiety of overthinking,
of the preoccupations and distractions
of our own lives and of the world,
our fidgeting over
what need not worry us.
Keep our focus on your love.

You promise to be
with us always, Lord Jesus;
the Father gives the Holy Spirit
to dwell in us.
In the wonder
of your saving presence,
give us faith and fortitude to go out
into our communities and world,
as disciples who make disciples,
drawing others to your love.

Open the eyes of our souls
that we may meet you each day,
Lord Jesus,
encountering your risen life,
being filled with your love.
Keep us from letting
our human prejudices and fears
obscure the light of your gospel;
inspire us to follow your call,
your way of grace.

May our faith in you
and our devotion to you,
Lord Jesus, lead us
to offer you the very best
of what we have and who we are,
the first-fruits of our daily lives,
as we embrace the gift of life
you give us in your love
and so shine the light
of your kingdom
for all.

In your death, Lord Jesus,
you tear down all that separates us
from you, from your grace;
even death itself is defeated.
In your resurrection,
you draw and raise us into new life,
the life of your kingdom.
May our lives testify to you,
to who you are,
to your love.
