Sorry, just saw this. In my post I was being ironic; what I meant was to mock the self-aggrandizing "becoming" something that actors do. There is no real comparison between "becoming" a famous person vs a person with a disability. The former is often merely fatuous, but the latter can be offensive.

Timothee Chalamet "becoming" Bob Dylan is surely the modern version of an actor playing a person with a disability they lack, or Jude Law pretending to have a Southern accent, or whatever
