Exactly. It's also part of the whole point of the character's story. To be SEEN, to be accepted, to be loved, regardless of how broken he is. I think I'd rather be thought of as being "broken" and show compassion, empathy, and love, than to be "healthy" and feel none. (((HUGS))) as always to you.

But anyway, what makes me a bit angrier than that is the "Astarion is morally grey and has flaws so you should not idolise him" subtext of the reply to Foxxy.
Sure, it's mean what Astarion thinks of them when confronting Gandrel, but he has a good reason. They beat him to deaths door after all. Sure, Astarion kidnapped their kids but Cazador set him up to it.
The "Astarion was a corrupt magistrate" has been debunked many times as it was his **EA** concept. We don't know how he was as a person before he died. What we do know is that Cazador was very conveniently on site. Also I find framing the Gur as "they are sweet angels that can do no wrong" as false

I see a lot of people who talk about Astarion being a walking "Red Flag" and "Toxic", and yet they're drawn to him, and still romance him. Well, to me, and a lot of others, he is not. And I would like to explain why that is. WARNING: Abuse, Trauma, & Sexual Abuse, etc., Triggers.
Saying "it's for the children" is something conservative spout without any backing. They say it's for the children but then act against children.
Besides BG3 **has** kids in the game. It's not like people are making something new.
