30.10.2025 16:54 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Welp, I unplugged my laptop from my desk to catch up on some things from the couch aaaaaand the battery went from 80% to 6% charged, then completely died in about 10 minutes. π

My life gets so much easier when I realize thereβs a human behind things
Iβm mostly a kind person, just sometimes things rub me the wrong way
When I step back and realize that everyoneβs imperfect, or that how someoneβs acting rn may not be who they REALLY are
I usually feel a lotbetter! (βΒ΄β‘`β)
Quick internet safety PSA: as Halloween approaches, a reminder: please don't post photos of other people's children on social media without their and/or their caregiver's consent! It's our responsibility to help safeguard children's privacy until they can decide for themselves. Happy Halloween! πππ

The perfect scenario would be just pasting rich text into a text field and it immediately converts it and spits out the Markdown into the text box.
29.10.2025 16:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Google Docs has a handy βCopy as Markdownβ feature where you can paste rich text, and then copy it out as (mostly reasonable) markdown. Handy for quick and dirty conversion of a web pageβs content, e.g. to quote in a blog post.
Is there some native app on Flathub I can use to do something similar?
At the Paris Peace Forum earlier today, we announced the release of gpt-oss-safeguard in partnership with OpenAI. Now, weβre announcing the launch of the ROOST Model Community (RMC).
roost.tools/blog/a-new-milestone-for-open-source-safety-infrastructure-and-transparency/
There's tried and true ways for how OSS applies to software, but that doesn't fit squarely with the realities of AI development.
That's why I'm grateful OpenAI is trying something new with @roost.tools, openly releasing weights with a commitment to work with the ROOST Model Community to iterate
ROOST.tools has been building against the DIRE framework for online trust and safety: Detection, Investigation, Review and Enforcement. ROOST's Coop and Osprey tools address I, R, and E, but Detection is best addressed by classification models.
Enter gpt-oss-safeguard from OpenAI
Excited to announce here at the @parispeaceforum.bsky.social that, after months of joint technical work together, OpenAI will open source through ROOST one of its main internal models that handles detection and moderation. This will allow anyone or any company to use, test, and study the model.
29.10.2025 12:09 β π 62 π 17 π¬ 2 π 7TikTok, Amazon, and Google havenβt yet provided comment to The Verge about C2PA support. Meta told The Verge that it is continuing to implement C2PA and evaluating its labeling approach as AI evolves. OpenAI simply directed us to its scant blog posts and help center article about C2PA support. Meta, like OpenAI, has an entire platform for its AI slop, complete with dedicated feeds for social and video content, and both companies are pumping AI-generated videos into social media. X, which has its own controversies regarding nude celebrity deepfakes, pointed us to its policy that supposedly bans deceptive AI-generated media, but did not provide any information about how this is moderated beyond relying on user reports and community notes. X was notably a founding member of the CAI back when it was still known as Twitter, but pulled itself from the initiative without explanation after Elon Musk purchased the platform.
The Verge exists to print this huge cowardly stack of no-comments from huge companies which spent years pretending they would develop a wonky content authentication metadata standard only to have it come to nothing when Sora was released www.theverge.com/report/80635...

Bluesky's post button but with subtly simulated chromatic aberration.
I usually wear contacts, but sometimes when my eyes are dry or irritated I switch to glasses. More than once Iβve come across a website and wondered, βWhy the heck are they doing some weird liquid glass effect on all of their buttons??β
β¦Just to realize, no, itβs IRL chromatic aberration. π

Flock cameras are the most late-stage American capitalism spin on 1984. Of course itβs not the government who puts up cameras to keep an eye on the public; itβs a for-profit company who charges the government for their services.

The result for now is that I have two separate accountsβ¦ but I really donβt want to manage two different accounts. π
Last time I checked into brid.gy, I didnβt love how my Mastodon posts showed up here on Bluesky; they were often truncated and then linked to the post on which just felt spammy.
I largely prefer the architecture and experience of the fediverse/Mastodon over ATproto/Bluesky, but there are a number of accounts I care about that are over here and not bridged to the fediverse. And even with bridging, it's not the best experience.
How are other people handling this?

Chatbots β LLMs β do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When theyβre βrightβ itβs because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. Thatβs all.
