if you read this thread all the way through, i hope it was helpful or interesting or made even a little bit of sense LOL

i regret not taking more photos but i was just so focused on getting it done that i couldnt even think about taking progress pics 😂

it's not perfect, and i can barely see even shadows while wearing it, but i'm just proud to have finished it and it looks soooo cute if i do say so myself 😭

so after a little less than 2 weeks of work, like $100+ in material not including whatt i had on hand (and working on it on my birthday!!!) i did my own katsucrunch without going to katsucon and I FINISHED!!!

if didn't get lazy I could have stitched this on for a better result, but I was just testing if it could work and it did! (I did the helmet part before I started the fabric parts, I just forgot to mention it lolol)

it stayed on the whole time I had to wear it except for the last time I took it off, but this can be easily fixed with more superglue on the elastic/velcro.

as you can see I put an extra piece of foam at the top and then sandwiched some elastic with another piece of foam so I didn't have to glue the entire helmet on the foam. it attached the helmet onto the elastic with velcro through the holes and this worked surprisingly well!

forgot to mention an important detail about the head!!

this head is really big. it will not stay on your head without proper support and what's more proper than my childhood bike helmet 🤪 (surprised it still fit but that just goes to show you how i haven't gotten any smarter)

and then i went home and sewed new mittens with this white fabric from when used to make drifloon plushies LOL (it surprisingly matched my suit and it looks SOOOOO much better than the flimsy white gloves)

we took some fun behind the scenes photos while getting ready for the event...

at this point, i was done with the head so here is a photo of him traveling to surprise the other love4svt mods 🤭

the lines were sewn on with yarn and i'll probably use the same method when i make a 3d diamond.

to attach it on the pink, i matched it with the dart and (you guessed it) hand sewed it on with an invisible seam!!

i'm definitely going to make it 3d in the future because it was flopping around so hard (as you can see here)

for the diamond, i meant to make it 3d like the official mascot costume, but i was running out of time so i just sewed together two pieces of minky and stuck one of the extra embroidery mesh i had in there to make it straight. if i had more foam that would have worked better

next is getting all the details on the face!! the eye highlights were done with craft foam. i painted + mod podge and then hot glued them on the eyes.

the cheeks and mouth were done with felt and i just did a running stitch. i held them in place using pins.

there is A LOOOOT of handstitching in this project but i figured that would make it last longer and would make for easier repairs than hot glue so i just put on gossip girl or ducktales and got it out of the way 🥲 (do u like my choice of media)

as you can see from that cursed wip, i did not sew the lining of the fleece and sew lush fabric to anything so it was just hanging like loose skin.

i glued the fleece lining onto the bottom of the foam and then i hand sewed an invisible stitch of the sew lush onto the fleece
