26.07.2025 18:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Have you heard about the PIC16F131 series MCUs? They have a Configurable Logic Block and Logic Cells which allow real gates with MCU flexibility. Its a bit like a CPLD lite. Low quantities are available from around 0.6USD. I'm still waiting for a project where I can use those :)

There are different cartridges which implement an RTC. MBC3 cartridges e.g. are used for several PokΓ©mon games. Unfortunately this is a minority: b13rg.icecdn.tech/Gameboy-MBC-.... Adding an RTC to the #OpenDMGDisplay would function independently but is quite some work.

New blog post! I briefly documented my process of assembling PCBs using low-cost tools and consumables.

I tried to optimize my PCB assembly process using 3D-printed SMD storage solutions. Since this might be helpful to others, I wrote a blog post about it.

16.03.2025 06:47 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Maybe. I don't know the dimensions and the available space in the GBC case. The electronics should be pretty much the same. I would need a GBC to do some measurements and signal analysis ;)
14.03.2025 19:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just released a preview video for my current project: a DIY open hardware TFT display mod for the classic Game Boy (DMG01). I built it using the new RP2350B, so the release will have to wait until Raspberry Pi officially launches the controller chip.
