Oil Means War: Fossil fuels keep us unsafe, impoverished and energy poor in an unstable climate. YouTube video by Fuel Poverty Action

We won't pay for your costly wars!

❌The human cost of war is unbearable
💵The money spent on wars is inexcusable
🌍The climate cost of wars is unsustainable

And now people are expected to put up with increased energy prices too? No chance.

📈 Energy bills are still £600 higher than 5 years ago.

But there's one huge chunk of your bill that the government could be cutting right now... 💡

Today's price cap means bills will fall slightly from 1 April... but we're not April fooled.

Let's crunch the numbers:
🥶 Our energy bills are still £600 higher than 5 years ago
💸 Up to £500 of our bill goes to profits
🤔 Labour pledged to bring down bills by £300

Retrofit should mean home improvements and bill savings. That should be guaranteed.

Instead, families are left with damaged homes. Most are still waiting for justice.

It's yet another scandal this government isn't fixing. When will you meet with the victims,

Extra £400m of taxpayers' money to spent on phasing out fraud-hit green homes scheme Thousands of families are dealing with problems including damp, mould and faulty heating systems due to poor workmanship carried out by ECO4 installers

“It is shocking that the Government is planning to give the energy firms and contractors even more money for ECO4, to help cover up the widespread fraud and failures” - Jonathan Bean, Fuel Poverty Action

a graphic saying '63% say they have cut back on essentials because of the cost of living crisis', with some trollies illustrating the proportion.

Almost two thirds of people in the UK have cut back on essentials due to the cost of living. The crisis isn’t over — it’s getting worse.

Today we're launching the Cost of Living Action campaign, calling on the Government to end this crisis and ensure it never happens again.

Miliband pledges up to £1bn for community green energy schemes UK projects will allow local areas to control and profit from renewable power generation, says energy secretary

Big energy's profits & distribution costs drive up bills.

Small scale energy could cut bills by more directly connecting us to lower cost renewables.

Now government must ensure access is fairly distributed so we all benefit from cheap, locally generated energy.

Lying cowboy heat-pump fitters milked millions from green scheme More than £165m worth of public money is believed to have been claimed fraudulently under the Government's ECO scheme

Great to see @luciemheath.bsky.social exposing fraud in the ECO scheme.
Retrofit must build in accountability to residents and bill-saving guarantees. It should prevent, not cause, mould.
@martinmccluskey.bsky.social - will remaining ECO money go to fixing damaged homes?

We're calling for a public inquiry into this, and a guarantee that all homes will be fixed

We need:
1. Funding to fix damaged homes.
2. Independent inspections before money is paid to contractors for all future retrofit work.

Or as Jonathan says, “billions will be wasted, and more homes damaged, due to the lack of skilled workers and poor quality control.”

Today's #Budget doesn't touch the sides when it comes to fuel poverty.

Our energy bills will still be higher than they were at the election, and 50% higher than in 2020.

We pay £400 of our bill on average towards industry profits.

It's simple: clamp down on profits, bring down our bills.

Reclaiming the energy commons could help save this government From old flour mills to rooftop solar co-ops, community power should play a key role in lowering bills and rebuilding trust.

"Community energy gives people a real stake in the energy transition. Local organisations can reach households in fuel poverty far more effectively.

"When people see renewables funding local services, the transition becomes owned rather than imposed."

£700 - the amount Ofgem has increased your energy bill since 2020

Ofgem have put up the price cap - and your bills - AGAIN today. 🥶

Labour promised a £300 energy bill saving. Instead, our bills are £700 higher than in 2020.

Millions of us can't afford to turn on the heating. We need a system that recognises that energy is essential to life: #EnergyForAll

Demand for Ofgem to use firms' profits to help with energy bills MPs said it is 'completely inexcusable' that households choose between eating and heating while companies make staggering profits

£4 billion profits - that's enough for each household to save £143 on their energy bills.

Labour promised to bring our bills down, instead they've gone UP.

Its simple:
Reform Ofgem. Cut eye-watering profits. Prevent people going cold this winter.
