James M. Triggs, the Grandmaster of Gun Art, by Robert Deis YouTube video by Bob Deis

Here's a video I made about artist James M. Triggs (1924–1992), who is best known for his amazingly photorealistic paintings of guns for firearm-related periodicals and men's adventure magazines. It's based on the article I wrote about him for my MensPulpMags.com blog. I used CapCut to make it.

Yep. Arnold was in a number of ads for Joe Weider's bodybuilding and fitness company. Here's one from TRUE ACTION, August 1970. That's Joe's wife Betty Brosmer on Arnold's shoulder.

Yep. Arnold posed for a number of ads for Joe Weider’s bodybuilding company, like this one from 1970. That’s Joe’s wife Betty Brosmer on his shoulders. More about the Weider MAMs here - www.menspulpmags.com/american-man...

Here's THE WALKING DEAD actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, with his trusty Zombie-killing Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver – and the James Triggs "exploded view" painting of that gun on the cover of TRUE, August 1956.

James M. Triggs: Grandmaster of Gun Art... - The Men's Adventure Magazines Blog Spread the wordIf you’re a fan of the hit AMC television series THE WALKING DEAD, you might recognize the gun featured in the amazing “exploded view” painting on the cover…

Here's a new blog post I wrote about James Triggs, the Grandmaster of Gun Art. I first became fascinated with him when I realized his amazing exploded view gun painting on the cover of TRUE, August 1956 is the Colt Python revolver that Rick Grimes (actor Andrew Lincoln) carries in THE WALKING DEAD.

I love this masterful painting by Mort Künstler on the cover of ADVENTURE, November 1956. It goes with a story about a military frogman who guided a defective torpedo away from a British sub during World War II. (Scan via the Men's Adventure Magazines Facebook Group-> bit.ly/mensadventureFB.)

The cover of ARGOSY, May 1959 features one of the amazing trompe l'oeil gun paintings by James Triggs, the grandmaster of gun art. It's a flintlock of the type used by American Navy officers like John Paul Jones. (Scan via the Men's Adventure Magazines Facebook Group-> bit.ly/mensadventureFB.)

The Frank McCarthy cover art for ADVENTURE, December 1954 doesn't seem to go with any of the stories inside, including the one about Major General Claire Chennault. But it's a classic McCarthy painting. (Scan via the Men's Adventure Magazines & Books Facebook Group-> bit.ly/mensadventureFB.)
