The lovely @melwolverson.bsky.social bought me a portable Celestron telescope! My first successful use of the 10mm eyepiece (and the included moon filter, which is green). I was desperately trying to keep the phone steady (we'll get a clip). Really happy with it for a first effort!

Very odd couple of weeks. Wispapalooza in Las Vegas, picking up Product of the Year with LibreQoS. Received word that Advanced Hands on Rust went to print while working the booth! Then off to Maryland, to teach a class. Broke a tooth on a bagel, so now at dental urgent care. Quite the range!

The new mobile Zulip user interface is truly, remarkably bad. Faster, less memory hungry - awesome - but "hit back over and over until it decides to let you see the menu" is insane!

I just submitted Advanced Hands on Rust, fully updated to Bevy 0.16. Bevy updates are great, but it can be hard to keep up!

Roo looked very pretty, took lots of steps with diff animations and feedback, spend nearly a dollar - and gave me junk that wasn't even close to working.

Aider/Deepseek spent $0.03 and worked first time.

Go open source!

Figured I'd see what the cool kids were up to, and tried RooCoder (formerly Cline). It insisted that Claude Sonnet was the way to go, so I let it try (via my OpenRouter account). Gave it a task to update some JavaScript to handle some basic CRUD operations. I also gave the same instructions...

The Petgraph crate really is a joy to work with.
