On this day in 1969, CCR made their 1st of 2 appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show, performing "Proud Mary" and "Good Golly Miss Molly" from their album Bayou Country. Creedence would return to the program 8 months later to perform "Fortunate Son" and "Down on the Corner" from Willy and the Poor Boys.
28 years ago today, The Big Lebowski was released in theaters. The cult classic featured two Creedence songs on the soundtrack, Run Through The Jungle and Lookin' Out My Back Door, and the Jeff Bridges character The Dude gripes in the film about the police taking away his Creedence tapes.
54 years ago this week, CCR performed at the famous Budokan Hall in Tokyo, during their only Asian tour and one of the band's final performances. The career-spanning setlist featured many of CCR's biggest hits, as the band played to thousands of Japanese fans at their only performance in Tokyo.
56 years ago this month, Creedence appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone. John Fogerty gave the magazine's founding editor, Ralph J. Gleason, a lengthy interview covering the band's origins, his songwriting process, touring across the United States, and more.
Today we remember CCR’s rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, who would have turned 84 today. Happy birthday, Tom!

"And this is the moment I will never forget as long as I live: A quarter mile away in the darkness, on the other edge of this bowl, there was some guy flicking his Bic, and in the night I hear, "Don't worry about it, John. We're with you." I played the rest of the show for that guy." -John
"We were ready to rock out and we waited and waited and finally it was our turn ... there were a half million people asleep. These people were out. It was sort of like a painting of a Dante scene, just bodies from hell, all intertwined and asleep, covered with mud.
This weekend 56 years ago, Fogerty/CCR performed at the legendary Woodstock, between performances by Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin, but it was not all it was cracked up to be, according to @johnfogerty.com.
