Yeah, no. What we have right now is glorified autocorrect. Glorified autocorrect that takes the energy of an entire city to do what it does, plus half of Lake Erie to cool down while it's doing it.

The Microsoft overlords have determined your fate. I hate OD. If I don’t tell it specifically where else I want files saved each time I’m working in one, it defaults to saving on OD. Then the file gets buried so deeply in a folder somewhere it’s not easy to find and move back. Super frustrating.

Yes & that’s bc school administrators don’t know fuck all about how to answer that question, I humbly submit. In my experience as faculty they give a ton of lip service to “serving students” & “knowing what they need.” Reality? None of them ever interact with students so how would they know?

Yes, I think a bit. Though some chronicles take the time to distinguish things like “Saracen pirates” or “Greek pirates,” so I wonder if they didn’t also think viking = “Scandi pirates”

Thank you! Yeah, I knew about the wicingas/pirates connection but was hoping the Yale site would have it translated as the former and not the latter. When I got to AD 982, I want “wicingas” staring me in the face! 😂

I’m looking at the online ASC at Yale and it only refers to 3 ships of “pirates” in 982
