SWORDTEMBER DAY 11: PIXELATED

This relic is the only surviving artefact of The Sao’rettro Catastrophe, a freak magic event that afflicted a few settlements within the South Eastern United Commonwealth. The disaster lasted a few days, and in its duration, residents found themselves and their surroundings at a far lower resolution than usual. Local populaces complained of gaining “HUDs” and “being able to see their own stats”, which some revelled in, and others found quite invasive. Banks suffered the most, after tellers would accidentally pick up all the coins and valuables being handled within, patrons only being able to withdraw their earnings by defeating said teller in combat. Luckily, death seemed to turn a blind eye amidst the catastrophe, and those that found themself slain, for both material goods or just the experience, respawned in their bed safe and sound. The event lasted a few days, and disappeared just as mysteriously as it arrived. Despite the disruptions it caused, many were grateful for the skills they gained during the time of the catastrophe, no doubt a testament to their daily grind. As the pixels cleared, only this golden blade was left behind, and stands as a reminder of the odd and unpredictable nature of wild magics.

Wanted to earnestly just try and do some pixel art for this one, I had so much fun ! This was 64*, hard to get in detail but a really nice challenge :3 #rbswordtember
