I’m so sick of reading this woman or reading about her life every few months on the NYT.

Screenshot of a tweet from Mike Davis (@mrddmia on Twitter) which reads:

"The violent Black underclass is a danger to America.

Especially to hard-working, law-abiding Black Americans and other minorities trapped in their ghettos.

We must resume the mass-incarceration of these thugs.

In the meantime, Americans must arm up.

These monsters will kill."

Just saw a horribly racist post I normally woulda blocked and moved on from

But then I noticed the poster's bio, which includes that he clerked for Justice Gorsuch & was Chief Counsel for Nominations to Senator Grassley

This disgusting racist had a key role filling the federal judiciary, I'm sick

The kids have been home practically all week. Which means bits of playdo stuffed into the couch, stickers glued to the floor, odd pieces of small toys squirreled away under pillows, cheerio trails that lead nowhere. And there’s still one more day left in the weekend.

I noticed a typo in one of the job apps I submitted weeks ago. It’s one of those moments that’s going to haunt me randomly five years from now. And now I wanna vomit.

The funny predicament of poc in this country--we either have to deal with Tr*mp-supporting racists or well-meaning liberal racists. This is not including the many poc anti-Black racists. Whats a multidimensional analogy for Scylla & Charybdis?

Reading a student paper trying to figure out how to make a capitalist country like the US better. It’s unknowingly arguing for socialism 😂 Every. Single. Time.

A lot of students are home already so I had to teach a Zoom class today, my first since 2021. Flashed back to early pandemic and realized how much teaching over Zoom sucked so much. Students still came through though.

Writing is thinking, the process of writing is where the learning happenings. The goal is to learn, not just to produce text. I don't think I'm stuck in the past for believing this.

If you’ve been going to protests, consider participating in direct action like this as well! We need a diversity of tactics and we *especially* need to disrupt the flow of blood money into the pockets of genocide profiteers! If we had to pick only one tactic, this would be it.

Outside of college campuses, I see very little visible support for Palestine. In my 30-mile daily commute, I pass by many many Israeli flags and “i stand with Israel” lawn signs. And none for Palestine

I can't take sports in this country seriously at all. I just learned what MVP stands for and that it's used seriously. Like this is what I would tell my toddler, that he's the most valuable player, to praise him and get him to feel important. I can't imagine saying this to a grown ass person

Sometimes I have a hard time telling if my students are familiar with the cultural references that I make to American books or movies. And I don’t know if it’s because I’m foreign or if it’s a generational thing or both. Like no one’s heard of Pearl S. Buck much less read one of her novels🤯 how?!
