After the Salt Path scandal, here’s the memoir I’d read: white, straight, middle-class person in late middle age goes on epic odyssey of self-discovery only to realise that they are in fact hollow and soulless. And only miserable because they haven’t had enough trauma in their life to appreciate it.

Fully agree that trans writers need to be on staff across the media. As it happens, I’m not sure what my gender identity is, but that’s besides the point - mostly trans people are spoken *about* without the security of a job to write about themselves. Or to be able to influence in media orgs.

Telegraph withdraws banker school fees story after being deceived by source Fake Telegraph article about rich banker struggling to afford school fees was result of deception by a source.

A modern media story:

Telegraph removed a story about a family who cancelled holidays due to VAT on private schools. The story was denounced as a media AI fail (the dad was "Al").

In fact, a real journalist had been deceived during a real interview. Old school.

In response to Trump's executive orders, RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual-violence organization, has barred its crisis hotline staff from sharing resources specific to LGBTQ people, immigrants and other marginalized groups.

Let me get this straight: the Cass review wasn’t peer-reviewed yet was relied on by the government for major policy decisions - but now a critique of that review has been peer-reviewed and published, giving it more authority. Will government now be relying on this for policy? We all know the answer.

I say this to fellow LGBTQ people, after a lot of experience: if you have to ask for compassion - whether it’s from a politician, an organisation, or a member of the public - then you are already dealing with someone who lacks it, will not provide it, and does not care. To ask is to be disappointed.
