Yeah, it's the objectification of the term (and how it's used in gun culture) that I'm personally trying to avoid.

It's a small thing, but I made the personal decision a few years back to request an "author photo" instead of a "headshot" whenever possible (though there are some situations when the latter is the best term I can use).
