and while that is partly because they are genuinely lesser experiences I think it may also have to do with running around fandom spaces constantly and thus viewing literacy as a form of social capital instead of just how I perceive abstract things.

I think I concern myself with the idea of being a "fake fan", an uncritical fan, or being functionally comparable to a letsplay viewer. I feel some disappointment that I used to these things for a vast chunk of my life

On the opposite side of things sometimes I put off media that I would be sharing with friends because I'm afraid of not getting the perfect experience or not being in the correct mindstate to analyze media: noticing the correct details, making the correct connections. Discussing the correct things.

I keep pushing back videogames, comics, TV, movies, if there is no component of sharing it with other people.

I feel the need for every drawing I make to be a unique statement if it's not a joke or a gift of someone's OC.

In fact I feel the *NEED* to share everything I draw that isn't scribbles.

Perhaps I am too concerned with turning everything into a social function, or what people think of me, to a degree of dysfunction.

It would explain a lot of my tendencies really.

On the flipside I tend to work better (or pursue anything, really) when I present it to myself as a compulsion: say, disappearing in the middle of a conversation or viewing it as a last-ditch effort. Or deciding that this is only for me, not because my family or friends recommended it.
