27.01.2026 20:52 β π 21 π 11 π¬ 2 π 0My biggest question mark here so far is hiring ScarJo. If I was Mike I'd have stuck to his normal acting troupe for best results.

27.01.2026 19:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also were you taking him seriously before?!

27.01.2026 13:10 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Sal Buscema, beloved comics artist, passesΒ away
Sal Buscema, a veteran comics artist and part of the famed Buscema family of Marvel artists, has passed away. He was 89 years old when he died on Friday, and the news broke today, on what would have been his 90th birthday.
Just a few hours after celebrating Sal B's birthday, I got the news that Sal has passed away. An enormous loss for our industry and for all of us who knew and worked with him. Safe journeys, Sal. We'll miss you.
26.01.2026 23:33 β π 751 π 225 π¬ 32 π 20Was literally posting his art earlier today! Salβs style is a huge influence on me, especially his 80s & 90s work on Spectacular Spider-Man. What an incredible artist.
26.01.2026 23:03 β π 16 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A picture of Hank McCoy, aka Beast, a Villain
I love @adamreck.bsky.social for many reasons but one of those reasons is that he nurtures my long-simmering hatred of Hank McCoy, who has always been a Bad Person. (I would have added all the times this Obvious Villain has called a woman "toots.")

Check out Sink Your Teeth In, a sapphic vampire noir, now on Kickstarter from Zoe Tunnell, Lauren Knight, JP Jordan and Jodie Troutman.
26.01.2026 17:00 β π 15 π 9 π¬ 1 π 2Aww, thanks hon! Plus you pointed out ones the Beasts I missed here: Incel Terminally Online Ultimate Beast! Forgot about that jerk!
26.01.2026 16:38 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For a different take on the Smiley Face soldiers, check out Michael McLaurin and Dwayne Turner's Cage #2, where an offshoot of The Right known as Hammer is made up explicitly of white supremacists trying to eradicate black culture as Cage tries to bodyguard a west coast rapper.
26.01.2026 16:28 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nocenti usually gets the nod for being overtly political in her comic book writing, but what Weezy is doing here isn't terribly different, just relying more on stand-ins than explicitly calling out real world events. Hodge in particular is unmasked, saying the quiet parts out loud.
26.01.2026 16:09 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I want to add that of course Weezy was commenting on the 1987 present this was written in. Her characterization of Hodge and "The Right" is very much a critique of Reagan, racist police brutality, the "war on drugs", etc. My reaction comes from seeing it recontextualized with our disturbing present.
26.01.2026 16:03 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I remember initially reading this many years ago thinking it was over the top. Now it's so on the nose it's disturbing.
26.01.2026 15:34 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Doing some Weezy X-Factor reading for the next episode and it's wild reading about The Right in their silly military cosplay abducting mutants in service of their uber-wealthy racist leader, complete with the media counter-narrative.
26.01.2026 15:34 β π 31 π 7 π¬ 2 π 0This week we tackle times the X-Men have been in the funny books, including the delightful Days of Future Fun and the diminishing returns of What The--?! and Not Branch Ecch!

The X-Men have often been cartoons, but what if they tried to be funny? Would that be good? History says "no". Ranked This Episode The Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Fun What The--?! #3-4 (Mutant Beach Party) Not Brand Echh #4Β
Any way to get it remediated? That stuff can be dangerous
