Engagement here feels a lot more intimate, like when I post - it’s only the people who currently follow me who are gonna see it. On x I would expect everyone in the world to see it.
I have deleted all of my tweets I have nothing on my account on Twitter and I still get about 20 follows per day which means that all the engagement is fake bots. And if you look at the numbers it’s a dying platform and the idea of jumping back on a sinking ship doesn’t seem desireable to me.
Which is exactly how tumblr used to work - before they fucked with it, the difference being from tumblr and bluesky - the form factor.
Tumblr you used to be able to create meaningful content, long form posts or aesthetic gifsets that would go viral because they were good. (Not just emotion-bating)
Posts on bluesky feel like adding stories almost. The engagement completely dies after 1 day. Whereas on X my butthole would continue circulating for years—I’d be getting likes years later.
that’s why you see so many chains (quote posts) it’s the only way that posts continue to circulate.
