If Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's DREAM COUNT is still sitting in your TBR stack, here's a reminder that you might want to move it to the top. Your friends at @wirobooks.bsky.social and I highly recommend.

I love a good filet, but know how destructive meat is to the planet's health (let alone to poor Bessie). Take a read through @hsmithwrites.bsky.social's Q&A with author @brucefriedrich.bsky.social on a better way. @wirobooks.bsky.social

It's not like Markwayne Mullin is going to be an improvement over Gulag Barbie, but does this mean that the Coast Guard Commandant gets her house back?

I am squarely within author James Cheshire's target audience of people who love maps; check out my review to see if you're there, too. @bloomsburybooksus.bsky.social @wirobooks.bsky.social

Words escape me for how powerfully effective this is. It’s warm, it’s charming, accessible, inclusive, and it makes the point so well. Democrats better start learning to get their message across like this. Kudos to @mayor.nyc.gov and @aoc.bsky.social & their teams for bringing the humanity.

Coming to @awpwriter.org's #AWP26? Visit your friends from @wirobooks.bsky.social at Booth T845. We'll have some drawings & WWC discounts, & we're just generally fun and chill to hang around in the mayhem. Also, remember our new slogan: "The Washington Post doesn't cover books anymore--but WE do!"

I love how WIRB drops these little insights into their reviews:

On the TV show “Crossfire,” conservative commentator Pat Buchanan asked her, “What is this preoccupation with sex in books for 10-year-old children?” Blume smiled. “Are you hung up on masturbation?” she retorted.

For *years,* the Combined Federal Campaign offered federal employees, contractors, & others an easy way to donate to a wide selection of approved charities. Just as @wirobooks.bsky.social was set to make the list, this Administration has shuttered the program. Burning it all down, just because.

Hey, @timmiller.bsky.social, re: your chat with @profgalloway.com, folks at @indivisible.org and others got together & canceled their Spotify subscriptions because it ran recruiting ads for ICE—but not anymore. Protested Avelo Airlines for deportation flights—they stopped. It adds up; it works.

Hey, @leahgreenberg.bsky.social and @ezralevin.bsky.social, I’m insulted on your behalf at the way @indivisible.org is characterized in this @newyorker.com article. We know we’re doing grassroots organizing & building the muscle for a long fight to regain our democracy. I guess we’ll just show them.

Not a peep on the @washingtonpost.com home page about the bloodbath that Bezos & Co just wreaked on the entire paper. Absolutely NO MORE books coverage. So here's your reminder that @wirobooks.bsky.social is still here, all day, every day, with no paywall. It's good to be *independent*. Bookmark us!

It's a classic authoritarian power play: They lie to you. You know they're lying, & they know you know they're lying. It proves they don't care that you don't believe them, & that it doesn't matter that you don't believe them. They know they can get away with it. This admin=Stalin/Putin playbook.

Two months until the next #NoKings protests. It's up to us to increase the pressure every single day against their authoritarian takeover of our democracy. Keep turning the screws. Do not give them a moment's rest.

American Nazi Goebbels wannabe pinhead Stephen Miller thinking up ways to be even more evil and morally corrupt than he already is.

Understand that all of this fascist nightmare is being done in the name of the American people. If you don’t agree with what they are doing, you must speak out against it. Silence is complicity. And is there a single word from anyone in this administration that we are willing to believe?

Hasn't tiny Nazi Greg Bovino and all the rest of this cast of miscreants ever seen the movie? Do they not understand that they are the ones whose faces melt off at the end? YOU ARE THE BAD GUYS. YOU WILL NOT TRIUMPH. And we will revel in your defeat.

Always love Elizabeth J. Moore's reviews for @wirobooks.bsky.social, this time of @vnbateman.bsky.social's latest, ECONOMICA: "Women have been integral drivers of economic prosperity since the dawn of humanity, and the lack of recognition of this fact is a gaping blind spot in history.

When folks say we’ll never end gun violence in the US, I say, You know what you never hear in a restaurant anymore? “Smoking or non-smoking?” Things are only impossible until they aren’t, because enough people work (long and hard enough) to change reality.
