Yeah I felt that way too, when I saw that particular video, the person was very highly skilled. I wondered if that advice would even apply for beginner or intermediate artists. I definitely am not that far either yet π
Sound like it worked in your favor to not use commission sheets then?
Cool! Would you recommend it though?
Yeah I agree ππ
It will filter out a lot of possible clients but it it supposedly attracts the well paying ones? Because they approach you with your work in mind rather than numbers. Idk if that is true though. π€ Would be cool to test out and see I think.
It does give you an idea of how much you can expect something to cost. That video talks about multiple issues with commission sheets. How they are easy to scroll past, how inflexible they make it for you to price things. Or making clients have to math out how much something costs. Pretty interesting
Commission artists with experience can you confirm this?
I saw this video talking about not using comsheets. It isn't actually ideal to use one, because it makes people focus on your prices/numbers first rather than your skill/work. These clients tend to pay less as a result. Any of that true?
I have also started to implement 3D models that I can pose myself as a base/reference for some stuff. Super helpful and really speeds up the process! (Can't believe I didn't do this sooner !!!π)
Lately I have been a lot more loose and experimental with my art and it's the best feeling ever! Legit, I got bored of my typical cel-shaded style, or just drawing a character in a cool pose on a blank/simple background. Trying out different brushes or going traditional again has really helped.
aaah steel haze is my favourite design in ac6!! your style works so well for it. peak artπ
Dude same. Idk how others do it π
I drew STEEL HAZE for the RECORDS // ANALYSIS Armored Core fanzine! Here's a sneak peek just for you π For the full piece and many more from some super talented AC artists, check out the zine below! @armoredcorezine.bsky.social

I feel like sharing how me OCs changed and evolved over the years bc I like talking about concepts and thought processes about designs, thread below π§΅
still got 2 slots open for this
Scribbly lines, loose/relaxed coloring, fun shapes and dynamic angles!! ππ
Gimme the secret to draw such smooth geometrical shapes please. π€²
Your environment art is really improving too gahd damn good shit π
Ooh yoo that's dope tho! I watched my brother play pokemon XD a lot back in the day. It's nice to see it come backπ And since they add XD I wouldn't be surprised to see Colosseum being added later too.

Artist, QRT with your faces!
Look at this bunch of missfits. Aren't they a beautiful team π₯Ή
I'm learning manual as well π
Artist who make lineart with varying thicknesses:
Do you do the thicker lines purely via pen pressure or do you manually go back and add more to it after?
Her design is just so fun ππ the lineart is coming along nicely too
I feel you π I used to only post well polished finished work, because I wanted to only show the best stuff. It stopped me from drawing too. But switching my style to be more sketchy in general and using non-portfolio websites like here, has helped a ton.
I know right?? I had a bunch more but it was difficult to choose 10 that are somehow closest to me. And even then some of my picks could easily be replaced with another. π
I also wanna do one for Guilty Kill but I haven't gottan to make any posts there yet. Might prefer working on one thing at a time but we'll see!
By the way for anyone interested I do have a blog for SOL on tumblr where I go a bit more into detail about things and I answer questions!
I always appreciate knowing what people want to know more about! Really helps me figure out how to lore dump ngl ππ

People told me "driving a car is like keeping one foot in jail and the other in a grave" and they are so real for that. ππ
Yeah the "paying attention to what you need to" is the hardest part fr and nobody ever talks about that! Sometimes I see the right things but my brain didn't register them and then I miss it anyways. π
