I've forgotten most of my life, but some moments are burned into my memory. Once, in the late 80s, a refugee family from the USSR invited me to their very first Thanksgiving dinner. They had scored a small turkey from the food bank and weren't sure how to cook it. Sure, it was dry; but it was GREAT.
