Ben pushed these thoughts aside as he marched the familiar path downtown.
At 7:43, the only pedestrians out were a few dog walkers. He stopped to pet each dog in turn, thinking perhaps they might sense his affection, despite being frozen in time.

Then I turn around, and my autism makes me socially awkward about the first problem and just makes everything worse. 😠
Ben spent a lot of time not thinking about the implications of his situation. Not thinking about why time stopped at 7:43 one morning. Not thinking about why he could interact with objects but not people. Not thinking about how long he'd been alone.
