I wouldn't view it as a problem. Stimming is a normal thing for a lot of people (particularly the kind of people who might be particularly inclined to love video games and RPGs).

Turns out working in business development for 10+ years makes this process less scary than I thought. Who knew?

The whole experience is making me rethink pretty much every WIP I have in my back catalog.

Meanwhile, my "serious" novel writing gets bogged down with characters that are more toned down, introspective, and ultimately. . . boring.

The edits to Flux showed me that I can make these wild characters work in a formal work of fiction, while still tackling big ideas and deep character moments.

Rewriting chunks of my sci-fi novella, Flux, makes me think that maybe I've been writing with one hand tied behind my back.

When I write casually, I create these quirky, humorous, and entertaining characters who pop off the page. But I've always treated them as "just for fun."

Thank you! I was lucky to see the announcement when I did. It gave me just enough time to do the needed rewrites on my novella to squeak it in by the deadline. 😅

After weeks of grueling editing and developing some fairly inspired new material, I've officially submitted my novella, Flux, to @augursociety.bsky.social's new Augur Press for potential publication.

I guess now I have to get back to querying and actually writing my next book. 😵‍💫

Oof, I can’t even imagine. Once was enough for me.
