We are hoping to organise a P1/P7 Buddy Beat The Street walk on Tuesday 21st October, after lunch.

We are looking for parent/carer volunteers who would be happy to come along and help us on our adventure!

We had a fabulous visit from Simon Lamb last week, launching his new book- Mat O’Shanter!

We would like to let you know that George (our crossing patroller) will be returning after the October holiday, following a family bereavement.

A reminder that we have school photos on Monday and Tuesday. Full uniforms should be worn.

Our school library is a huge success but we need some more help to keep it running.

Parents & grandparents are welcome to help.

In particular we're having difficulty covering our morning slots on Mondays and Wednesdays

Room 13 have enjoyed taking part in the SideKicks training programme over the past few weeks… our P7 pupils are looking forward to leading break time and lunchtime clubs for younger pupils this year!

The children in Room 8 have been learning to work together in Drama by recognising that everyone has an important role.

Zentangles was a popular choice. This is based around simple repetitive patterns called tangles. By combining tangles within a small square shape you can create intricate abstract designs. We found this fun and relaxing.

September weekend is always a good time for an extra check of your children's heads, and treat any itchy little passengers you find. We've had reports of a few cases of lice this week, so let's work together to get rid of them!

A quick reminder that we have our next Parent Council Meeting on Wednesday 1st October. This meeting is also our AGM. Hope to see lots of you there!

📚 SCHOOL LIBRARY 📚

Come help at the school library with us. 📖 Our kids at Burnside have an amazing library run completely by Parent Volunteers and funded by the Parent Council.

We are in need of some more volunteers so we can continue to run this for the kids. Please let us know if you can help!

A group of children attended the launch of Beat The Street at Overtoun Park this morning. Come on Burnside, let’s collect those points!

Another successful harvest today for hard fruits. We also learned about lasagne planting, layering leaves, cardboard and soil to nourish our trees.

Rm 6 used our school grown tomatoes to make delicious Pizza bagels. They were very tasty.

We are so proud of our very own gymnastics champion! Look at all those medals!

These girls displayed what they had learned about cool and warm colours in a previous lesson, by making bracelets! We love how they all had a different way of showing their knowledge!

Room 13 developed their creativity skills by portraying real-life situations through mime!

Room 12 used the school own grown potatoes & tomatoes today to cook up some delicious Aloo Gobhi. Some children managed 2 portions (after eating their lunch!) & all have managed to take home a wee pot to share with their families at home. Knife, measuring & food hygiene skills were all used today.

A rainbow harvest from our poly tunnel! Courgettes, pumpkins, scarlet runner beans, tomatoes and cucumbers. Thank you to Grow73 and the Nature Rangers for their hard work. Now for the classes to get cooking!
