The leaked group chat started public debate among right-wingers which wasn’t really about the comments themselves, but their seeming confirmation of a trend that had long been whispered about — the increasing normalization of blatant bigotry, especially antisemitism — among the young right.

Several people I know had to wait in line an hour this morning and early afternoon. One man even gave up, and he went back again at 3pm to start waiting in line again (in Calgary).

This Thanksgiving in Canada, I'm thankful that we are a sovereign independent thoughtful progressive nation, a nation of rights, a nation with universal health care, with an engaging world view, wealth and stability, and not the "51st state".

Particularly thankful that Trump is not our king.

Same in real life. Often someone's "opinion" is based on right-wing lies. If you point it out to them, it takes awhile for it to dawn on them just how little they knew, and that they were obviously suckered by right-wing influence.

One thing I've learned from the Internet is that a lie needs 0% proof to be believed, but the truth requires thousands of pages of proof and still won't be believed.
