Found it again. Top of 4 East South, corner with management building. Watching now!

Explained in previous reply. Yes, easy to access. But currently looking for it again and can't see it, so may be elsewhere now.

Would be great to have your confirmation since I don't have bins so am relying on seeing the tail colour against the building facade, judging by behaviour, etc.

On the management school building rooftop by the bus stop!

To be more specific, it's on rooftops and scaffolding on buildings by the main university bus stop. (Typical urban black redstart behaviour, hanging out with some pied wags which aren't too happy with it).

In general I'm in favour of reintroductions but do wonder, with white tailed eagle, whether it was such a good idea to release a species that predates and disturbs other vulnerable bird populations. The Somerset visitor even seems to have pushed out the regular ospreys from Chew.

Got a good look at the white tailed eagle at Chew Valley Lake today. Lots of greenshank; peregrine on the ground; marsh harrier flypast.

Finally picked out a couple of spotted redshank among the commons from the top of South Lake too, nice year tick.

A few ruff here and there; goldfinches gorging on thistledown. Quiet with warblers mostly silent, but lots of house martins and swallows.

Cows alongside the river Severn at high tide.

At Slimbridge. Wood sandpiper, c. 10 green sandpipers, 2 spoonbills, influx of yellow wagtails (mainly at middle point with cattle). Nice.

3 kestrels.

Single little ringed plover. Two little egret.

At Pilning Wetland (what's currently left of it). Handsome greenshank present. Also a raven. @severnsidebirds.bsky.social @bristolbirding.bsky.social

Rhododendrons in woodland.

Severn Beach this morning. Quiet. One whimbrel plus another possible 4 distantly, one curlew, 30 oystercatcher, lots of whitethroat (but couldn't find lesser whitethroat), 1 reed warbler, lots of cetti's, 2 swallows. Kestrel and buzzard.

Path through mixed woodland.

Circuit walk at Chepstow Park Wood again to see if spring would be productive. No wood warbler this time but tree pipit (short display flight), spotted flycatcher and siskin were nice year ticks. Lots of willow warbler too.

Little ringed plover, avocet, wheatear.

Pilning Wetland - 2 marsh harriers, lots of noisy sedge warblers, sand martin, swallow.

Quite regular at Blaise in the strip north of the golf course.

Gorgeous day at Slimbridge with 61 species inc. spoonbill (2), cattle egret (12ish), white fronted goose, early singing reed warbler (2), sand martin, swallow, etc.
