A great blue heron standing on a semi-submerged trunk on a pond. Its neck is tucked close to its body and the feathers on its neck are all ruffled - it looks like it's a bit cold.

When I lived in Madrid I rode a Dahon folding bike to the train and then to work. The shaking from the cobbled streets would loose the bolts on the bike and a couple of times the frame hinge opened mid-ride 😬 (I managed to stop safely both times)

Also seen today at Central Park: a couple of red-tailed hawks also noticed all the migrating birds and were trying to grab some breakfast, but a raven put a stop to those shenanigans #birds 🪶

There's a ton of them yes! Not as abundant as the redstarts though, yesterday at the park there were something like 2000 of them, it was ridiculous.
