Although of course many in spirit of celebration or devotion or connect to a higher power, but such an ordeal of effort to a deity of judgement still seems a bit fear based in a way. Maybe we are even a bit big on fear based architecture…castles, walls

Just very bizarre to me, the concept of building a fantastic structure out of fear. Very torn as well, I appreciate the art, design, and physics of the structures themselves but as you mention there are very dark aspects to much of it, as well in the construction of so many temples etc.
