there used to be a kind of art form to writing about a delicious meal. it was poetic, poignant, and a vignette to different cultures that led to wanting to understand more about where something came from, or trying something new. now? I feel like it’s not really the case anymore

but yeah to go back on “you should pay me to review your food” is so grating to me. I don’t even know how people can feel entitled to asking that, when their credentials are probably reviewing a crumbl cookie in their car

I have very little faith in things improving in the foodie influencer space because it’s just a quick way for folks in that space to get attention. number go up? nothing else matters

it sucks because I do think restaurants are acting in good faith by asking more like “common” folk to review a restaurant. but at that point, the “Everyman” reviewer already has a huge following with an inflated ego. not saying that’s everyone but I see it A LOT
