Oh, that's a tough one. I love a sense of exploration, love stumbling upon beautiful places and vistas, but I also love a good, properly paced story.
Seeing how must open worlds are too wide and sprawly, though, I have to give it to linear experiences.

A fennec vixen smiles devilishly in her seat, made all the more menacing by the pink-hued lighting shining up from below her chest. Nearly lost in the gloom, her ears are adorned with earrings; two on the left and one on the right. Decked out with a set of large,round, magenta glasses; a thick steel collar emblazoned with a helix; and tactical goggles to assist her with flying which are perched on her forehead; she is obviously some manner of villainous pilot. Her arms appear mechanical rather than organic, and in her robotic hand she holds a device. Is it a detonator? A radio? It is up to the viewer to decide what mischief the vixen is up to.

‘Autumn, you delightfully deviant and exceptionally attractive vixen, you say you are a writer, but where ever could I read what you have written?’ You ask.
