Great photo and heartbreakingly beautiful piece.

Added this to the sketchbook while I was there, sitting in an external conservatory on one side of the Merz barn.
Wanted to capture the contentment of being there on that day, of feeling and place.
Took loads of ‘gizmo’ photos as well.
The ghosts were there but were faint, requesting my return.

Visited the Merz Barn today for the first time. Wonderful place.
Need to book a Newcastle trip next, to see the fabled wall.
Love the top two tiers of this Crowdfunder.

I read this piece when I got home from last night’s event, following a long day walking the earth in Liverpool.

Really enjoyed this piece, and the recurring buddleia reference.
A darker tone than other pieces, fitting for October.
As with previous pieces, I feel compelled to visit this place, to commune with the ghosts, but much more warily in this instance, lest malevolent spirits prevent me from leaving.

Unbelievable! Absolute game-changer of a book. Can’t imagine it not existing. Has genuinely added so much to my life, resonating at a time of personal reflection of self, family, former selves, authentic self, intertwined with a personal rediscovery of Liverpool and all the ghosts I encounter.

I’ve got stuck on just drawing from life (scenes/things, not people), but need to start working from photos, as I take a lot. Need to move away from trying to be accurate, and be more stylised, capturing essence over accuracy (which the photo has already done.)

I love Foulshaw and visit 2 or 3 times a week. I usually visit at dusk or dawn, but was there last Saturday morning and I met Tom and Alistair from CWT. Wonderful individuals, passionate and informative, bringing the place to life.

Saw all three perching on the tree at dusk last night. Great to have nest 2
