Segal's anti-semitism "review" can, and should, be ignored. There has been a longstanding need for better government work on anti-racism, but this review is compromised by the fact its first recommendation suggests codifying criticism of Israel as anti-semitism. Everything else stems from that.

Standing against genocide in Gaza is not antisemitism.

It's pointing out that the Israeli government's policies of cruelty and murder are abhorrent and illegal.

A progressive government would immediately cap rents on residential property for 3 years and introduce a tribunal to oversee rent increase requests after this time. Increase taxes on the rich to help the poor. Stop subsidies to businesses and private schools. Reintroduce public managed housing

It should also be mandated that landlords are required to provide split systems for heating and cooling in rentals. Too many unscrupulous landlords take advantage of the poor by charging a premium price for barely livable housing

Currently between $130-150pm where I am. Would upgrade to split system but when you have a mortgage and are on a pension it's hard to get the money up front

Of recent times, Labor has chosen the easy path, and I fear that should this continue to happen, that support for it will fall away in much the same way it has fallen from the LNP.

The ALP is at a point where it must choose Australia's future. It must choose between doing what is right or doing what is easy.

Labor has a generational chance to shape our future (both domestically and internationally) and needs to stand proud and be bold.

The PM, Defence and Foreign Ministers (in fact probably the whole cabinet) have misread the mood of the Australian people on these matters.
