oh that would be So Good too

Honestly I bet there's a bunch of NA gay bars with good eurovision parties too and I know at least one of my friends has a party I missed by like a week last summer lolol

another fun semi-easy mode one might be Australia, hmmm

I didn't see Loreen win (was in a hospital during that not that I remember this detail), but the winning performer often does an opening act the next year!
So I was in Malmo in 2013 and I saw Loreen and the Sweden deaf children's choir perform as the opener there!
I did see Emmelie de Forest win!

a thing I think would be fun at some point, or at leas once thought would be fun and I know eurovision is falling out of favor a little bit so IDK what the vibes are on this, would be to like... visit European friends and do a real in-Europe watch party

I honestly did not actually realize this quite so fully. We had tickets to like half of the rehearsals and all of the final shows if I remember right

but it was kind of nice not to need to be there every night or whatever since it meant we could do some other stuff too

A three panel comic strip featuring two anthropomorphic canines traipsing about a junkyard. In the first panel, text reads "The best past is one you can learn from." They read from a document and pull a cathode ray tube from an old bowling computer console. In the background, the tail section of an MD-11 airplane looms like a monument. In the second panel, we see them looking closely at a manual laid out of the hood of a Paykan automobile. Text above them reads "The best future is one we build for ourselves." In the third panel, we see them walking away together, with a garden cart in tow filled with the CRT, an airplane seat cushion, a video recorder, and assorted stuff. They walk past a Therac-25 radiation therapy machine. Text above them reads "The best present is a trip to the junkyard."

I went to Eurovision *checks notes* the year before when it was in Malmo in 2013! I still have my little light bracelet from one of the Loreen performances!

And yet lolol

stock picture of HTC TouchPro2, a phone with a keyboard that slides out. The screen angles upward like 30 degrees so the whole thing looks even more like a tiny laptop, it has a big QWERTY keyboard in the lower half and the stock picture screen shows a windows start menu and a conference call with five business people on it, they are a diverse group by the standards of 2009

nerd notes 1:
"conforms to standards set years ago" doesn't have quite the same ring to it. </mean>

nerd note 2: Thomas' buses claim they need a minimum of 60kw to DCFC. I wonder if that's a real technical limitation or a recommendation based on imagined use cases.

Helioxโ€™s New DC Fast Charger Can Send Power Back To The Grid The Siemens-owned business says its new compact charger is fully compatible with vehicle-to-grid international standards.

always neat to see movement on V2G stuff, especially as some of the vehicles with the biggest batteries might make most sense for it: insideevs.com/news/778565/...

I also saw a bunch of like โ€œwah wah what about grammarโ€ and to be totally clear: that comes later.

Hooked on phonics aged kids probably donโ€™t really need formal grammar explanations yet. Thatโ€™s a later stage of learning the language.

Hell it doesnโ€™t even take that long before kids are good enough with written language to just use a dictionary

Also like by the time a kid comes to school in theory they know like lots of words orally and the point of phonics based reading is to connect oral and written language

โ€œYou canโ€™t just sound out the word, how will you know what it means?โ€

Buddy the cues were never gonna solve that problem.

At some point you just gotta tell a kid c-a-t cat is the word for small felines such as Felix and then theyโ€™ll go โ€œcool thanksโ€
Or they just askโ€ฆ

The thing that hit hardest other than that itโ€™s gut wrenching to hear kids being sad about underperforming at a thing due to the way it was taught, was how much corporate money is wrapped up in doing things the wrong way, because more or less: vibes

They could hook the berry farm to the village it was next to and make it a part of the train you get into town on to avoid having to remake the skate park ass route on the way there (all the gates being there but dead is hilarious in its own way)

I loved the berry farming in SMUSUM and if they coupled that with like the tasks system from SWSH and gave you the keys to the Kalos berry farm in a Z-A DLC Iโ€™d be extremely interested
