Not sure how good DX is. Interactions with outside world from workflow is done via activities. For testing I am making activities as stub and interacting with complex state machines in a test. Btw time skipping is also an interesting feature. But for me it was a bit flaky.

Testing can be pain. Workflow can have an exception and it will not be reported to test runner. So it keeps hanged until timed out. Or how messages will be handled. Recently they introduced WorkflowUpdate in addition to WorkflowSignal.

I really love temporal cloud. You need to consider location of data plane if you still consider using temporal. What is your use case?
