I get the appeal of "what if" experiments on music that AI can generate with minimal effort, but I really think we should be opposing this kind of generative AI and not normalizing it or giving it more of an audience.

This has been going on for so long I have to wonder if there was ever a #6

I really enjoyed it for the first couple of seasons, then kinda lost interest. I don't remember if it got worse or if I just got too busy, might go back and rewatch/finish some day.

I got a used Mustang Mach E, which I don't think you'll find in that price range unfortunately. I was looking at cheaper options too, so I may have notes on whatever you're considering.

I had a Tesla with "full self driving" until about a year ago, and the few times I tried it I had to intervene before long. As a tech enthusiast I agree it's interesting, but as a customer I felt ripped off by false promises.

Regarding why people come to you specifically with this - people trust you. You're smart, you do your research, you're on the side of the people, and you explain things well. I can't think of many people that description fits.

This is the lite version of big tech fuckups by current standards. I don't think there's a single publicly available platform from a big tech company that isn't buggy as hell.

I only have basic consumer level gear but would be down to contribute somehow. I've been wanting to do videos for my own stuff too but my house is too crowded to do much here.

I still watch LTT sometimes but I have not thought well of Linus since he lied about a sick family member to haggle a lower price on a PC part for some silly competition about building cheap with second hand stuff.

The broader idea being - having some skill in a variety of fields makes you uniquely valuable in a way single-specialists aren't. Society needs both kinds, even if it's seems currently biased toward the single focus.

Reminds me of a video I saw recently about people with "too many" interests. Trying to pick one thing to specialize in for the rest of your life is both waste potential and a paralyzingly difficult choice. The suggestion was, in part, to make it a choice for the short term instead of for life.

This is probably fixable in a way that won't be obvious after it's done

I always thought that was specifically for DJ sets and similar, but I guess not? Looks like the most promising option so far!

None of the big generative AI companies have cared about copyright law at all, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if they cut out exceptions for major record labels just because they have a lucrative business relationship.

I mostly feel the same way, but even if interactions go badly with 99% of people there are still probably a few weirdos out there you can just talk naturally with and it actually works because they're the same kind of weird as you. Please don't give up on finding them.

I ALMOST gave SoundCloud a pass because they don't train AI on uploaded music, but then I read the list of their AI "partners" and nah, this is too much. Even if it's indirect, they're supporting the industry of stealing music to replace its creators with slop.

Not really the type of thing I'm looking for, but high five for not using Spotify. I use Deezer personally.

Can anyone recommend a place to post music that ISN'T building or partnered with generative AI? That rules out SoundCloud and YouTube.

I guess Bandcamp? I'm not really trying to sell my music, but you can listen to stuff for free there before buying so I guess that works?
