Check them out!
Presented my 2nd PhD chapter at #BES2025 yesterday!
Pollinator responses to national parks in France
Thanks for all the great feedback and questions! Love this conference.
+made it into German radio π
Today I had the pleasure of presenting my second PhD chapter at the International Society for Ecological Modelling conference (Kashiwa, Japan).
This work focused on modelling landscape-scale responses of pollinator species to national parks and their surrounding areas. This work should be out soon!
Yesterday we were out catching and marking pollinators on three rooftops, two of them more than 10 stories high, to see if they were travelling between them!

π¦ A great film from George Allen about his important PhD research on national parks and pollinators

Here's a short video (in English) all about my two years of research on wild pollinators in France's newest national park!
We're talking protected areas, forest networks, roadsides and legislation. Hope you enjoy! π
Pollinator surveys are off to a flying start in Parc National de ForΓͺts!
This year I'll be studying functional and taxonomic turnover along gradients from core zones to buffer zones, with a particular focus on road verge habitats.
I also have a very special helper this year - Sammy the cat!
Yes, because what's holding the US back from greatness is our lack of "wood independence". π
Logging these >100 year old trees will be disastrous for climate.
Thanks supervisors @deepasena.bsky.social, Mike Garratt and Joann Sy for joining me in France's Park National de ForΓͺts this week.
We presented results from 2024's work on woodland pollinators, shared future ideas with the park and visited some field sites for this year's study.
(+slow worm!)
You too can be a citizen scientist!
Dr Chris Wyver @chriswyver33.bsky.social explains just how easy it is to get involved with the #FruitWatch 2025 project.
Just take a photo of a fruit tree in your area that is starting to bloom and submit it to fruitwatch.org. πΈ

And made it onto the report! Great to see all of PLT's achievements in conserving urban pollinators so far.
Had a great time presenting my 2nd chapter PhD results at the bi-annual Bumblebee Working Group conference 2025, held at Cambridge University!
What a mouthful.
An amazing bunch of people all doing cutting-edge pollinator research. Can't wait for the next.
Did you know the violet carpenter bee (Xylocopa violacea) is one of the largest bees in Europe?
These pollinators are more commonly seen in the warmer regions of Europe but can occasionally be found in the UK too.

I had a great time at my first British Ecological Society conference! I met lots of friends old and new, and had the chance to share some research from the first year of my PhD.
Thanks #BES that was fun!
