wonder how many trans people he’ll manage to chew up and spit out this time around
thank you for amplifying it :)
i am firmly in the ‘Turning Red is the best Pixar since WALL-E’ camp, i don’t have much patience for the ‘don’t tell stories about kids’ viewpoint, but if you’re gonna tell a story about a kid, you can’t write the kid and then freak out about the kid you wrote!
the entire film is gearing up to allow riley to withstand a *minor* disappointment, and then at the end it chickens out and implies she makes the team anyway!
thank you jeff vandermeer i do my best 🫡
docter had already made some similar comments, but seeing him drop the specific stuff about elio at the weekend was like WOW did he know i’d already filed??
very excited for this to be out in the world: i wrote about repressed queerness in Elio, child surveillance in Inside Out 2, the post-Lasseter crisis, and the figure of the child in Pixar for The Baffler

I think there are widespread structural problems with the beauty industry when it comes to ageism alongside other forms of representation. In this case I think the interviewees are young because that reflects the areas and orgs that were reached out to in casting.
I empathise with your point here but I have already told you that I had no input into the interviewee list.
yeah i think if you're gonna relay what a mix of trans people think, you're gonna end up relaying stuff that doesn't align with your own framework. i don't agree with ella's framing here but i'm glad she doesn't accept the 'biological man' framing
I agree that would have been a good addition. I wasn’t involved in choosing the interviewees, so I can’t speak to that part of the process; I think there are various structural reasons that people in their 20s-30s would be more likely to do this project.
they all have very different perspectives, and together they build a complex portrait of trans fatigue and trans resilience under brutal state persecution. i’m grateful to Cosmo UK for their care in creating this project.
interviewing Jazmeen, Alexandra, Jude, Hannah, Johanna and Jen for this was both an joy and a serious responsibility; I hope I’ve brought their words to print the way they desired.
my first piece (cowritten with Catriona Innes) in a print magazine comes out today: we interviewed 13 people, mostly trans women, about how the Supreme Court ruling has affected them for Cosmo UK

increasingly adopting the tinfoil hat theory that tate mcrae is actually an S tier pop girl, who is being suppressed into A/B tier both because she’s low-key personality wise (like dua lipa) and because she’s muscular rather than skinny/dainty
I believe she's been claiming neither her 'nor her team' had any contact with Epstein?
