The US slashed research for cancer, Alzheimer’s, mental health — and nearly everything else Revealed in one chart.

Across all areas, including Alzheimer’s & cancer research, the #NIH went from funding ~5,000 new research grants in 2024 to 3,900 in 2025.

This is despite Congress rejecting NIH budget cuts.

Fewer funded grants = less room for new ideas.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

"Per recent @reuters.com report, DoD spent about $93.4B in Sept 2025 alone

For comparison, Sen. Sanders’ proposal to make public colleges tuition-free nationwide was estimated $70B/ year

The money to help Americans is there. Your politicians aren’t working for you.

Happy Friday the 13th in hell!
Prior to the 1900's, Friday the 13th, and 13 in general, was celebrated as a divine feminine day in many cultures. There are 13 lunar cycles and (typically) 13 menstruation cycles. The connection to bad luck is relatively new.

China pledges billion-dollar spending boost for science Funding for national laboratories and important research projects would increase under the government’s plans.

China is watching & taking action as we throw away the best thing we have ever built.

China has proposed to increase its overall research & development expenditure by at least 7%/yr over the next five years, which translates to billions of extra dollars each year.

Eye Doctor Named to Air Pollution Advisory Board Draws Pushback

Paging The Onion

The Trump administration has tapped an eye doctor with no background in air pollution science to advise the EPA on what levels of air pollutants are safe to breathe.

Ideology over expertise.

I’m an NIH whistleblower. The scientific community cannot afford to avoid politics “Scientists are often encouraged to avoid politics. But this advice is outdated, if it was ever correct in the first place,” writes Jenna Norton, NIH whistleblower.

Everybody should know who @jenna-m-norton.bsky.social is.
In this day and age it is more risky to keep your head down than to be the whistleblower that we needs.

Right now, being called "a radical leftist" is a badge of honor. And imperative.

Read her story here.

According to Nathan Cavanaugh of DOGE, the purpose of terminating 100M in NEH humanities grants was to reduce the deficit. In 2024, NEH counted for 0.003% of the federal budget. Does terminating DEI related grants effectively reduce the deficit? No.

The DOGE can't math.

I meant to put a bit of commentary in this repost.

Dr. Berg has been doing yeoman’s work on tracking NIH funding. As you can see here, funding for new scientific research has been severely reduced by The Regime so far this year.

This harms all of us.

Ex-DOGE Employee Exploited Americans' Private Data, Whistleblower Claims If true, the actions could constitute one of the "largest known data breaches in American history," Sen. Ron Wyden warned.

Pretty sure I posted about this awhile ago. But again ALL our personal data with the SSA had been compromised.

How Congress can restore the independence of US science Members must go beyond reinstating US government research spending and re-establish decentralized governance at the National Institutes of Health and other agencies.

A good read.
Since WW2, the #NIH has operated as a decentralized entity. Priorities were set by Congress, but independently executed by experts. This led to its success.

Now, political appointees have unprecedented control over what research gets funded, harming science.
