Eva started to walk away now.

“Eva wait! Sorry Robin, thanks again for the save!” Her classmate smiled at him and chased after the other girl.

You haven’t been here long enough, Eva. Gotham is protected by its very own heroes! Batman et Robin.” The schoolmate gestured the boy.

“al'abtali? {heroes}” She looked down. Why didn’t Darfur have heroes like them? Evangeline thought to herself.

She looked back up. “shkran lak. {thank you}” +

Evangeline’s eyes widened when suddenly a boy dressed rather strange - in her opinion - seemed to have appeared from nowhere and came to their rescue.

Her classmate responded swiftly, “Thanks to you, Robin!”

“rubin? Rouge-gorge ? {both mean robin}” Eva looked at the other student.

“Oh that’s -

She was walking home with a classmate who lived in the same building as her when a man approached and started to hassle them. “abtaead! {keep away}” Evangeline kept her eyes on their heckler and stood in his way as he tried to grab her classmate.

Six years later, when Eva was ten, they left France and moved to Gotham City. Why? Business, that’s all they’d say.

Now, she had a new language to learn in an unfamiliar city; as if learning French wasn’t difficult enough.

It happened on a day that was dull and dreary like every day in Gotham. ++
