Having attended clothing-optional weekends, I can attest that nudity is both freeing and healing. At those events, most people find that the body stops being automatically sexualized, but rather the diversity of body shapes and sizes becomes celebrated.

Something about 19th century literature was very reactive to the simple love story. From Madame Bovary wasting away because she is stuck loving a man who does not love her to Pip mooning over his limerant fantasy, they were cynical.
I consider it to be the most difficult of early abuses to bring full recovery from.
A lot of counselors feel by giving care and affirmation this will cancel out the neglect that was foisted on the client. But it doesn’t work. Not that way.
Effective Memory Reconsolidation requires that we reactivate the entire emotional details of the memory. And THEN install a different outcome and belief system where the pain and neglect were found.
Many therapies do this, including EMDR, IFS, EFT, and others.
As I am learning more about Memory Reconsolidation, one point is clear: You cannot get rid of the pain in a memory by giving the client in the present day what they needed in the past.
For instance, if they were neglected, giving a client a lot of attention will not negate the neglect.
