22.07.2025 20:40 — 👍 241 🔁 52 💬 13 📌 4Note the very top priority:
1. Get as much electricity as you can from local solar. This has two components…
a. Make rooftop solar the cheapest form of energy anywhere & do as much as possible.
b. Get as much as you can from local commercial and public-space solar that is within the “community.”
And that, kids, is why it’s called “cray cray”

I have a pretty unusual life story. But one of the reasons I love the tech industry so much is how common unusual stories like mine have historically been.

Just seeing this: Elasticsearch has gotten support for query time joins (more specifically lookup joins: left outer joins, targeting a one-shard index with 2B docs max).
There should be a law of sorts that every query language is bound to converge on SQL semantics.

I know this runs counter to a lot of advice but… Do not try to improve on the things you’re awful at. You’re probably always going to be bad at them.
Instead focus on the things you’re good at. Rise to the absolute top at those things. The rest either doesn’t matter or can be outsourced.
