Very cool to read about a new Greg Allman documentary called “ The Music of My Soul” is set for a summer release.
No firm date yet, but it’s nice to see it’s finally coming.

What would you rather see-
a Red Hot Chili Peppers career retrospective doc?
or
A doc about their early years and the story of original guitarist Hillel Slovak?
The second choice is coming March 20
NY Times is saying that “The Rolling Stones: The Biography”
by Bob Spitz, is one of the most anticipated books in 2026.
We shall see April 21st
Just did a podcast episode focusing on must see and read Grateful Dead books and docs.
The doc Long Strange Trip still feels like the gold standard. Four hours, not a lot of gloss. They don’t dodge Jerry’s relationship with fame or the cost of it all. This is where I would start.
Looks like the new Red Hot Chili Peppers doc coming out March 20th is not a look at the bands career, but only focusing on the band’s early years and the death of original guitarist Hillel Slovak.
And to me, that’s just fine.
Last year my podcast Rock Talk Studio gave away over 10 rock n roll books.
Kicking of 2026 with another good one. Drop Gilmour in the comments to get in on a chance to win this new book

Glasses up to Sly Dunbar who passed today!!!!!!
Sly played on a ton of great records. As a Dylan fan, I will always be partial to his work on the Infidels tracks.
Two new rock docs heading our way in February. Which one are you looking forward to the most?

Just watched the new Springsteen:Nebraska Live video running on Hulu.
Just Bruce in an empty theatre, singing those haunting song from Nebraska.
And even though I have heard those songs many times, they are still so unique and emotionally unsettling in the best possible way.
My Top 5 Rock Docs of 2025
5-Sly Lives: Aka The Burden of Black Genius
4-Billy Joel:And So It Goes
3- Norman’s Rare Guitars
2-Becoming Led Zeppelin
1-Bono: Stories of Surrender
Really glad the Jeff Buckley doc “It’s Never Over” is finally streaming on HBO.
I’m glad more people are getting exposed to him.
The doc is a deeply human portrait of a lesser known musical talent whose life and legacy still resonate!
If your a reader of rock n roll books and love rock n roll documentaries🎸 -you’re my type of people🤘Let’s connect!

So many incredible rock ‘n’ roll books out this year…it’s kind of ridiculous!!
Instead of scrambling last minute to find a good one I handpicked a bunch for every kind of fan and put it into a holiday shopping guide. Happy to share- just drop Guide in the comments and I will shoot it over.
Just finished Patti Smith’s second memoir “Bread of Angels”.
Not sure if I like writing or her music more.
What does every rock n roll fan want for the holidays?
Easy- rock n roll books!!
That’s exactly why I made a Holliday Shopping Guide loaded with the ones worth giving (or keeping for yourself)
Comment rock ‘n’ roll and I’ll send it on over to you🤘
Would you consider Ozzy’s 2nd memoir “Last Rites” a key piece of rock n roll history?
It is a personal document of the last six years of his life. Have you read it?
For those of you who have read the new incredible Cameron Crowe memoir “The Uncool” which encounter did you enjoy the best?
The one with-
Bowie?
Gregg Allman?
Dickey Betts?
Jimmy Page?
Jim Croce?
Glenn Fry?
Ronnie Van Zant?
Crazy how three standout projects landed right before we lost three rock ’n’ roll legends this year. All are absolutely worth checking out.
-Smile:The Rise, Fall, and Resurrection of Brian Wilson
-Sly Lives! Aka: The Burden of Black Genius
-Last Rites: Ozzy’s second memoir
