You can find em pretty cheap for just a basic no frills one. Walmart sells the lost basic ones around 120$, though local electronics stores might have better deals for better ones. I got our bedroom one for 100$ for a 6000 BTU that is programmable.

I highly recommend investing in at least a 5000 btu window unit that you can keep handy for these exact scenarios.
