03.08.2025 21:47 β π 60 π 11 π¬ 1 π 0Years ago when I first learned 3D I tried to recreate this kind of old school logo effect and it didn't look anywhere near as cool as those old logos.
Recent years realized the trick isn't lighting, but compositing trickery and taking advantage of moirΓ© artifacting.
I finally figured out how to do this shimmering effect

But for everyone who has donated already, thank you so much, it's going to help a lot!
Prattle carries some boxes to an unknown place! Several critters accompany her, the green one isn't even working!
My partner @hyperchaotix.bsky.social and I are moving very soon!
We've set up a Ko-fi goal to help build up some funds for the process!
We would both very much appreciate any amount of help y'all are willing to give!
If you donate you'll get to see what I'm workin' on too!

Hey!! So looks like we'll be able to move soon!
We could use a little help since we're between apartments (and our current one costs way too much, hence our moving), nothing is required but everything is appreciated!!
In any case you should check out my partner's stuff, it's really neat!
Oh yes indeed! I'm very familiar with Tezuka's work and history, became a big fan a few years ago. Extremely important figure and I love his artwork in general, furry or otherwise.

There will be more Deltarune.

19.07.2025 22:32 β π 114 π 21 π¬ 1 π 0"Freedom of Speech" by Norman Rockwell, 1943. A man is standing up in a small crowd of sitting people, appearing to speak, while the others look up at him.
"The Young Lady with the Shiner" by Norman Rockwell, 1953. It depicts a school girl sitting in front of the principles office with a black eye and smiling widely.
"Blank Canvas" by Norman Rockwell, 1938. Depicts a scrawny artist scratching their head and looking over a blank page for the Saturday Morning Post.
"Tired Salesgirl on Christmas Eve" by Norman Rockwell, 1947. Depicts a tired-looking woman in a toy store slumped up against the wall, surrounded by toys and dolls.
It would be a crime to mention Leyendecker and not Norman Rockwell. His work is also well celebrated these days if not moreso. While more realistic than Leyendecker's work, Rockwell's work is full of personality, story, and humanity.

@hyperchaotix.bsky.social and I are looking to move soon! I've set up a new Ko-Fi goal to help build up some extra funds for that! We'd really appreciate it if anyone could help us out!
If you do you'll get to see some behind the scenes stuff of things I make!

Or when they're fumbling stuff and messing up in really basic ways and either go back to correct it or they're confused about the issue it causes later. My god, just edit your video!!!
19.07.2025 21:07 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Humans have been making art for thousands of years.
Show me art or a piece of media you like or at least find interesting from before 1979
Mario Sironi died in 61. A complicated artist with a tragic life and ties to fascism, spared by partisans at the end of Italian liberation for his sheer artistic importance to the country
His urban work is almost anti-Futurist. Simple forms drenched in existential dread of the present. I love it
I need to push this more but being on nerve pain meds is making me barely functional right now π
I may need to do another after I hit goal because of recent medical emergency expenses + payment processor fees eating a large chunk of it before it gets to me.
Thank you everyone who helped so far. π
Here's a good way to test:
If you lag because you're *doing* something, that's probably CPU.
If you get lag just rotating the camera around the viewport, that's probably GPU.
I've been told it's a CPU issue since the CPU is doing a lot of the underlying processing. GPU is just rendering the final image.
19.07.2025 02:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Something wild to me is that I keep finding *more* art by the guy I've never seen before despite being a fan my whole life.
Like these! I've never seen these before! Thank you for sharing
"Football Hero" by JC Leyendecker, 1933. Stylized man in an old-school football uniform, sitting and clasping his hands together while looking off to our right.
"Living Mannequin" by JC Leyendecker, 1932. Depicts an old woman sewing a pink dress onto a skinny perturbed old man.
"The Donchester" by JC Leyendecker, 1911. Depicting 2 well dressed men sitting next to each other.
"Head Study" by JC Leyendecker. Depicts a closeup of a skinny woman with glasses looking to our left while holding a small book.
He gets gassed up a lot these days, but honestly why not?
The work of JC Leyendecker I also find inspiring for his striking angular stylized silhouettes and interesting shape design in his rendering that straddles a line between stylized and realistic.
