Hehehe, well done! Always a pleasure to see care taken into animating hands

Anno is joking. He's buds with both Miyazaki and Tomino (Gundam) and knows that they didn't even really breakout until their late 30s/40s.

Anno himself was 35 when NGE came out.

Despite what you may have heard, Japanese people can be funny and sarcastic on purpose.

I plan on making more Sonic animations in the future, so we'll see how that goes. ;)

It's funny I normally draw it a bit thinner

I actually have a ton more but like I said about a week ago I don't really want to flood my feed with Sonic stuff as much. More to come later though

Digital sketch of Sonic in a dynamic running pose, running towards screen right. He's standing on what appears to be some kind of faceted rock of some kind. Loose traditional sketch of Sonic in a bored pose. Looking up with his head in his hand, while his left arm is on his hips. He's standing with his legs crossed and leaning on some kind of vague object.

Have a couple Sonic doodles from the past few days in the meantime

Still cooking on this, might post something else in the meantime. So far the new design is a big hit with friends lol

As someone who couldn't get into fps games for my entire childhood because I couldn't stand playing with only twin stick, I'll always love having gyro-assisted aiming as a nice way to help bridge the gap for mouse aiming.

I mean, I see Nerrels' videos (in general) as more of a discussion of ideas. He makes strong arguments and backs them up, but I don't see that as arguing for an objective fact. It's part of why I find his videos like this so interesting.

Oh yes indeed! The palette is pretty much the same with some tweaks in placement for the new design.

I call it a "redesign" but in my mind it's more like I'm finishing the design, what it should've been in the first place kind of thing. Not even finished yet and I'm already much happier with it and having way more fun drawing it

Probably only because it's what people are more used to from you atm? With enough time I'm sure that'll shift though because I think your marker stuff looks great! Easy to tell you're having a lot of fun with it, shows up in the art itself.

idk how many people remember this brief thing in 2019 where I made a fursona (No the guy in my avatar isn't a sona, he's just one of my characters lol)

I stopped using him because I didn't relate and wanted a redesign, but life got in the way. Well, now I'm finally doing it lol

Yeah! I would use aseprite for that but I just find aseprite kinda weird to use for some reason. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to, but I'm much faster in gimp atm, so that's a bit of me being lazy about learning it haha

I love getting reactions from people when I tell them I do all my pixel art (including animations and pixel textures) in GIMP

Yes I own both Aseprite and Pro Motion

A dainty, maid-like character reveals a gaggle of sharp, dangerous things from her oversized sleeves
She seems to be proudly showing them off!!

YET AGAIN I posted new character art to bluesky as a response to a meme and forgot to properly upload it here on its own first!!
Mallet shows you what she's got up her sleeves!!!

Something I think is interesting about early SRB2 (and Sonic Doom 2), is watching the evolution going from honestly mediocre fps level design (lots of 90 degree angles, I'm sure the tools were more limited), to trying to figure out *3D Platforming* level design while that genre was still pretty new.

Yeah definitely! It's funny though sometimes how long that trail will go. 3 fa accounts, a dead tumblr account with a different username, search the username and you find they have twitter and they've moved to bluesky and back to fa under yet another username.

Sometimes people will come back, but it'll be under a different name, different character, and many times with a new style, or so far developed as to be unrecognizable.

Whether it's people going "This was never good it's just nostalgia" (what did people think of it when it was new smart guy?)

Or people going "Ahh reminds me of when the world was perfect... the nostalgia...." (projected ignorance)

I hate it either way. Nostalgia culture has *always* bothered me.

I don't like the "nostalgia" argument in any capacity. Whether it's positive or negative.

It's a thought-terminating argument to dismiss the merits and values of media and often with the same basis of media "aging" like spoiled food.

I'm at a point where it's not just "easier" to draw again, but it is *consistently* fun now, even when it's hard.

Almost at 3 weeks of this mental shift and it feels like I'm almost at a point where this is starting to feel "normal" finally.
