This past weekend has been something rather special indeed. From all of us at the Talyllyn Railway we cannot thank you enough for coming to the Awdry Extravaganza 2025 - so many have travelled so very far to visit our little railway and we are so very grateful.

Sunday was a magical day.

While I will respect his accomplishments with steam preservation, I will not do the same for his ultra glaring racist and sexist track record on various railfan forums. Like, that's a permanent stain on all of that.

Didnt do a whole lot of chasing it yesterday for a few reasons but did get some good photos, a few of which with random families just awe struck at a live steam locomotive

A really nice moonlit night scene of Thomas pulling the post train across the Standard and Narrow Gauge Viaduct from the fifth series Thomas & Friends music video, ‘Night Train’.

I find so odd that they modeled these specific snow plows for engines like Gordon and Henry, yet elected to only put those sliver ones on them instead.

Ok so I think the Lionel Thomas is awesome, but also it’s fittings suck, so allow me to introduce how I’ve decided to spend an hour: I redrew some fittings for it that I think would make the base Lionel Thomas a million times more visually appealing! Also an American tour variant for fun

A very amazing find at a train show, this complete brass Berkshire! It’s a beautiful model, many details, lighting, and runs really great with a great mechanism. Got for an insanely cheap price too! possibly my best show find yet! Needs few paint touchups and it will be even better!

And lastly a boxcar that’s quite shiny and a nicely detail nyc caboose with interior. Both are great and the caboose looks nice, but it needs a little cleaning up and the stack needs fixing. Cheap finds again too, a lot of what I found were just great models for a very low price.

I also got these two custom wooded kit gondolas. These are really nice and custom painted too, they just need a few repairs here and there. Also grabbed two custom loaded flatbeds which were nice. Again all for cheap.

Here’s some other really cool finds from a recent train show. I got this damaged rivarossi 4-6-0 for cheap, and it does run, just missing its smoke box door and some rods. Going to fix it up and repaint it.

Day 1 of Awdry 5 was a blast for me and some of my friends!

No.1 & 2 (Skarloey and Rheneas) got new faces, we showed our models, rode in Duke's cab, rode on a train with Mike tagging along, saw a few TVS props and saw the Mud Sodor Layout in action and we met new people!
