I can't stress this enough. Being a great writer requires you being an enthusiastic reader. Read in your genre and out of it. (Yeah, even those kinds of books you swear aren't for you occassionally. You might be surprised.) Devour as much as you can.

So I have been occasionally uploading short videos to Skylight, which also post to Blueksky, and adding alt text for them... but I am not seeing the alt text when they appear on Bluesky's end....

I don’t know who needs to hear this but listening to an audio book absolutely counts as “reading” a book.

In fact, I’d argue that listening to an author read their own work aloud is an exceptionally magical and even holy experience.

I love it so much. Especially as my eyesight gets worse.

Last night, booked my trip from Philly to Portland for a book launch kickoff tour -- for the second year in a row, I will have a story published in a queer anthology with some absolutely AMAZING fellow queer authors. AND, I'll get to read a snippet of it in front of folks at different events

But honestly, I appreciate each and every review and love the folks who take the time to leave them

toward being readers (future writers and literature lovers). I didn't have as much inroads with folks from other programs. But it did my heart good to see!

And yes I should absolutely post that sometime!!! I was born in the early 90s, btw, and I did so, so, so much reading growing up

I finished my BA degree at an in-person college this past December (I went back a lot older) and the vast majority of young folks around me were absolutely voracious readers, which was lovely. Then again, we were all part of writing and humanities programs so maybe there was a natural bias there

I'm a younger millennial and recently while unpacking some boxes, I found one of my old Pizza Hut BookIt medals!!!! Started crying
